Wow! Guys at Outlaw should take as good of pictures. I did not realize that the pre-amp was as large as the amp. With the colored terminals for the pre-outs, it appears that Outlaw was considering THX certification.

Excellent gear. Now give us a review!

I like the looks of the new Outlaw equipment...very clean and much better looking than their original offerings.

I am also on the quest to upgrade HT amps...I also am using a Denon 3803 for our pre/pro,will be glad to hear your thoughts on the differences with your new Outlaw pre.

I snapped off a couple more pics of the new gear in its new home. Having some real big issues with the pre/pro right now so I'm trying to figure out if it is something I did wrong or if its the pre/pro. It will not let me access any menu options and will not pass any video threw component so I'm not sure what is going on. Anyways, here are some more pics.

Okay all, my day turned to s@#t real fast this morning. This may be a little long so hang with me. First I get everything hooked up and going this morning and I figured I listen to a CD first before making final adjustments on speakers, etc.. I had a hard time picking my chin up off the floor I was so amazed at the sound that was coming out of those RTi's, singing baby.

Then I decide to get everything dialed inn before really taking a listen. Low and behold, the first problem, not being able to get into the setup menu because the 'menu' button doesn't work. So after switching cables, swapping cables, testing this, that and every damn thing else you can think of I finally narrowed it down to there being a problem with the pre/pro. So what's a guy to do, swap the 990 out for the trusty 3805 as a pre/pro. Once again, I am floored at what I heard, this damn 7700 is a BEAST.

So, after I finally get my chin back in place I then decided to do the speaker adjustments. Front, fine, center, fine, right, fine, right surround, no damn sound, the rest played just fine. So, not only do I have a bad 990, I also have a 7700 amp. with one dead channel. I have (a) checked speaker connections, good, (b) swapped the RS speaker cable with the LS speaker cable and the RS worked, so I know the speaker works (c) replaced the cables with different ones (d) I disconnected all the cables from the Denon, ran a cable from the front right pre-out (which I know works) of the Denon to the right surround on the amplifier and ran the speaker setup again which when it was toggled to the FR, the RS should have played and still no sound. Before anyone asks, I did in fact make sure I switched the amp back to 'unbalanced' instead of 'balanced' when I had the 990 hooked up. I am at the end of my rope. I spent a hell of alot of money on something that doesn't even work properly. I'm guessing I should have just kept what I had and left well enough alone.

Don't get discouraged, I know what it's like to spend a small fortune on a piece of gear and have it crap out really fast.

I doubt that Outlaw CS is available till Monday but give them a chance to fix the problem before getting too worked up.
The problems you are experiencing sound bizarre for Outlaw equipment, but if the problem is in fact in the equipment they'll get you fixed up in no time flat. They are on par with Polk CS, IMHO.

Did you connect the preamp to your tv via an S-Video cable as suggested earlier? Was the S-Video output enabled?

Ditto Frank's advice. I think you'll be feeling quite a bit better on Monday after having spoken with the people at Outlaw. Try to enjoy the system as is until then. Easier said than done, I know, but this will work itself out sooner than later. Awesome looking gear, btw.

Awesome setup you have there, the gears looks of elegance. I especially like the size of both items. Im sure Outlaw will get you taken care of asap once youre able to dial into them. I was thinking of the 990 myself but the only thing that made we reconsider was the fact there are no HDMI connections yet. Other than that the other Outlaw stuff is awesome, prices are 2nd to none, anyway feel better guy your setup will be on its way soon.

Cheers and have a drink, calm those nerves a tad bit.

go the the Saloon on the Outlaw Audio web site. the folks in the forum there are excellent help.. look for gonk. he's one hell of a cool and extremely knowledgeable guy on all Outlaw Audio gear.

often times it's just a setting or bad cable somewhere. i have the 990 pre as well.. and while I have not had any malfunctions with it.. there have been many times when a setting was incorrect.. and it sounded like crap.

are your interconnects good? Not just the whole lot.. but one out of the many you have in your system may be shorted out or bad. tear down your system and start from scratch... isolate the problem.. then add component by component and find out what piece is causing the problem.

Okay, is it possible to have a bad 'unbalanced' connection on an amplifier and have a good 'balanced' connection? The reason I'm asking is I hooked the 990 back up to do some more trouble shooting. Here is what I did, I just hooked up 2-channel. I first hooked the left front up as it should be, left 'balanced' out to the left 'balanced' in on the amplifier. I then hooked the front right 'balanced' out of the pre/pro to the 'balanced' left surround in on the amplifier and then hooked the FR speaker wires into the SR speaker input and the SR channel, which did not work earlier today, worked just fine. Is it that I may just have a bad 'unbalaced' connection on the SR channel?

They are meant to be individual signal paths by design, so sure, you COULD have a single, bad connection.

Just isolate the problem, word it and let Outlaw handle the rest.

Well the amp situation has been confirmed by my standards. The "unbalanced" connection on the surround right is in deed bad. Lets just hope Outlaw will make good on the CS and send me a replacement of both the 990/7700, then once I receiver them, send the bad units back.

umm. i think they want the bad units back before they will send you the new ones.. i could be wrong.. but that's how most places do it.

well glad you made some progress.. how about the menu? Can you still not get into the menu?
