For starters, Hill is not a political difference, in my opinion it's common sense. She is a lying, cheating, carpet-bagging, headline-seeking opportunist. Her views have softened so much over the last few years it's scary. Moving to the middle...sounds like someone is planning on doing something in the near future. Throw in her spouse...she's toast. But..no politics, right. And...as stated here before, if she didn't know her husband was having fun with a Cohiba and Leaves of Grass, I'm not sure she's smart enough to be a senator let alone a presidente...Not to go Alec Baldwin or Streisand, but if she wins, I'm flying the coop.

Oprah - don't even know where to start. Her rise to prominence is baffling to me. The morning show up here in Minneapolis (KQRS) did an interview with some people that were on the show. The persona she "demonstrates" on her show is far from the one that is presented when the cameras stop rolling. She is an actress, not a messiah (as some have deemed her). She cries on cue, takes credit for things she didn't do (remember when she gave out cars to all of those audience members), and basically makes me ill. Why in God's name would anyone take advice or guidance from an actress???? They act. That's it. I love it when these folks (many of whom didn't even go to college or finish high school) espouse their beliefs on the rest of the world as if they were the Beltway Boys. I just don't get it....

Not that I would subject myself to that daytime talk show fodder, but if I were going to I would probably watch Ellen - as long as she quit dancing all the time. At least she's funny.

You're going to **** because she facilitated the giveaway of over 300 automobiles? Her annual giveaway shows are full of things that manufacturers fight for the right to have on the show.....and that's an Oprah flaw? How bizarre....

You seem to have the standpoint that someone expressing an opinion mandates people to follow said opinion. It's an arguement that the meat industry didn't win, you should probably abandon it as well....

Facilitated, huh? Let's try took credit for (as if it were her own expense) and then when the truth came out, she backpedaled a bit. Now I wouldn't consider that a pleasant attribute, would you? How about the fact that she will not allow her beloved audience members to address her (directly or indirectly) unless the camera is on? Nice trait....

The mere fact that someone has an opinion certainly doesn't mean that anyone has to follow it. The fact of the matter is, the lowest common denominator will follow it. That is the target audience. The mindless automatons that kneel and genuflect when she opens her mouth are the ones that I was referring to - people with a brain in their head would not respond like lemmings heading for a swim...You go girls!

Next, her glorious book club aside, she also gave the world Dr. Phil - another strike. Add that to the fact that she speaks as an authority on numerous topics - literature, child rearing, weight-loss, and relationships - and doesn't do any of them well herself, is another strike. I don't think Oprah is going to ask me about straight-line depreciation any time soon, but I'm pretty sure I could find a better person to guide me when it comes to relationships and weight loss. Maybe next week Mel Gibson could host a show about safe driving or better yet, I could feature Christie Brinkley's thoughts on selecting a spouse.

Sorry for derailing the thread....I was just trying to express my opinion that I think Ms. Winfrey is a wart of the fanny of the planet. Somebody questioned my opinion - I responded.

    Adios,

    Hap

Well at least she doesn't own your emotions....

Disagree or agree, but I think her 30+ years experience with thousands of experts, people, and issues warrants her having those opinions, whether she chooses them for herself or not.

How is her recommending a book an objectionable offense, but movie reviewers which have a far greater monetary impact are moreso tolerated?

I just found it humorous that you found her to be so objectionable.
