The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Nope, not another thread about the movie.
This is a ramble thread of sorts. Based on some things that have happened over the last couple of days, I had an idea for a different type of thread - listing something that's happened recently (either here on CP or elsewhere in your life) in each category.
It's real easy, here, I'll start:
The Good: A couple things:
First, I won one of the Pink Floydd Pulse karma DVDs, very cool. Those DVDs were about $20 each I imagine, and it was cool of Polk65 to offer up not one, but two of them.
Second, it's good to know that there are still decent courteous people in the world. Bdaley just bought a Denon 3801 that I posted for sale in the FM. We did the transaction via Paypal. When i received the payment via Paypal, I noticed that he'd included the fees, without me asking for the 3%. It was like $8, so not a huge deal monetarily, but a very nice gesture and something I definitely noticed and thankd him for.
The Bad: Again a couple of things:
First, the fact that I had to mention the second point above, that someone going a bit out of their way to be extra courteous is rare (at least in my experience) - well that's kinda sad.
Second, a failed deal here. I was actually contacted about my Denon before I posted the FS thread, I guess when someone saw I was buying Cliff's 3803. We had the deal set up and he promised he'd mail out the MO in a day or so, and asked that I not sell it on him. I said of course I wouldn't. I PMd him a day or two later to make sure he was still interested, to which he replied "i have to past it up at this time". That's it, no 'sorry I held you up' or anything of the like. I was initially a little upset that he backed out and then I had to PM to get even that response, but overall I understand things happen and was cool with, replied with this PM "OK, thanks for letting me know. Sorry it didn't work out for you." I figured I'd get some kind of response to that, because at that point he knew I wasn't pissed at him or anything...but NO. Overall, not a big deal because I got it sold and immediately felt more comfortable with the transaction anyway, but would have still liked to see a bit more consideration.
The Ugly: The USPS
Anyone else just hate the USPS? Let me apologize in advance to anyone on here who happens to work for the USPS. This is just my experience, but it is what it is - horriblee.
i went to the post office a few days ago to ship some CDs and DVDs to my brother.
First off, how are you not going to open until 8:30? Most people work from 8:00 - 5:00, how about opening at 7:00? Hell, I'd settle for even 8:00. I realize those that work at the post office are people too and don't want to get at work at 7:00 any more than I do...but you're a SERVICE industry. Everyone else that I get service from (grocery store, dry cleaners, etc) is open by 7:00 - why can't you do the same?
Okay, so you're going to open at 8:30. OK, fine, I'll plan around that. So I get to the post office at around 8:20 and see a machine with a scale and all that saying I can mail packages there 24 hours a day. Excellent! Oh wait, what's that - oh it's BROKEN. Of course it is. Time to go stand back in line, they'll be open in a couple minutes.
8:30.....8:34......hmm, I've got a meeting at 9:00 hope I can make it.....8:36......8:37...Woo Hoo they're Open now!
They unlock the doors and the herd of people files in to the room, but no one's behind the counter yet. 8:38.....8:40......hmmm, where is everyone......8:43......longest 3 minutes of my life, looks like I'm going to ba a few minutes late to the meeting.........8:45........there appear to be signs of life coming from the back room......8:47......finally we have workers out and ready to help us.
So I finally get my turn. It's really simple, I'm just going to mail this one box to the address I already have typed out and pasted on the box, I just need to pay the man and go. Nope. He stood there for TEN DAMN MINUTES typing **** in to his computer. What the F&^$ was he typing in for ten minutes!?!?. I walked in to the post office at 8:20, and walked out 30 MINUTES later (and $6.50 poorer) - all to mail a single box. WOW.
Okay, it's your turn

Sorry to hear about your FM dealing.
Okay...
The Good:
My friend Brendan came up from Chicago last night for dinner at Mo's Irish Pub, and then to catch a concert at the Pabst Theater. I hadn't hung out with him in about a year when I loaned him $100 when I was in Chicago for Lollapalooza. In any event, he paid for dinner, drinks, the concert, AND gave me $200. How often does that happen where you get paid back that long after giving someone money? Especially whenthey promise to pay you back the following week.
Made me think a lot more highly of his character.
I just sealed a deal with our largest distributor to stock a product of ours on their shelves all over the country equal to what they currently stock of our other products. I haven't really sat down and done all the math just yet, but for them to fill stock it works out to between $300,000 - $400,000 in one fell swoop, plus the restocking they do as units get sold over the years. That's huge for a company as small as ours as far as people we employ. Things just got a lot brighter around here, and everyone is excited. I've been working on this for a couple of years, and some others have tried in the past. The last time I spoke with them I was told I they weren't even going to bother looking at the proposal until February of 2007.

Add THIS to the Ugly....another USPS problem.
Seriously guys, and I the only one who has issues with the USPS...maybe I'm doing something wrong. I don't seem to have many problems with FedEx or UPS (other than price raping with UPS). -

I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore
