Well i went and did it, sold the denon and bought my first HT pre-amp.. received today from Darla (wingnut ) in 1 day, were both in florida... It was dropped off by UPS right as i left for work so i havent had a chance to fool with it, ran the IC's to the outlaw amp and tested it worked and made the trip ok, which it did and that was about it.. tomorrow the fun begins, this thing looks difficult.. although that is what i thought when i got the denon 3803 a couple years ago.. I will report back after the weekend and when this thing is setup and watched a few dvd's.... I'm excited and cant wait to make some coffee tomorrow morning and bust out the manual... Nice piece and its huge, and deep.. doesnt even fit the rack depth its so long... will also post pictures later... all i need is another SVS now :D

Yeah, I guess I should have warned you. That thing is huge. It sits in my TV stand that is open in the back on the right hand side of the unit but I had to drill a few holes in the back on the left hand side in order to accomodate some cables. The faceplate also is wider than the opening. Therefore, the back of the faceplate is snug against the opening while the front sticks out.

Good luck, I hope you enjoy it.

The real fun begins with the pronto remote re-setup and programming the sherwood remote for my gear.. remotes are such a PIA.. as of now its working, setup and i tried the auto calibration.. It will be sometime before i learn this thing, and we need a sub to get the full effect of movies.. We have upgraded alot of gear in A short time,

    Rti's to Lsi's
    denon receiver to sherwood pre
no power amp to outlaw 7x amp
and in the midst, i painted the living/Ht room and re-arranged everything, new window treatments.. so its been a total re-vamp.. now to catch up

not bad though, we havent changed everything in what, 4 years.. the receivers have changed a few times.. but speakers the same..

I love the way it looks, sounds good.. no real demo time yet.

Ok i think i just fell in love again with HT and 2 channel at the same time in the same rig..

Popped in T3 in the dvd, and now am listeing to some cd's.. kenny G right now and in pure audio 2 channel it sounds fantastic and may i retract the laid back comment about these speakers.. although the denon was a very nice AVR it has nothing on this sherwood for shear impact, reproduction of music and movies... simply amazing, I just was in a dark room listening to kenny G with my eyes closed and it reminded me of my old 2 channel when it was at its best, Sda 1b's parasound and tube pre..

Like they say, " I'm loving it" LOL

I need a better dvd player now :D I can definatly pick out the weak links in the system unfortunatly.. and a sub, but these 15's dont need a sub for 2 channel listening except maybe for some low stuff in classical music.. that's it!!

I have a local Npr station i listen to now and then and it has some great listening material when ya wanna just chill out and listen to good music

anyways, Hats off to Darla for the great deal on the pre, glad i picked it up.. and the Lsi's... The outlaw amp is excellent!! Happy guy here

    That is nice to hear.

I remember when I replaced my Onkyo TXDS-787 with the Sunfire theater grand II I bought from Screename.
    Wow what a difference.

I personally never found any difference in the "pure" audio mode. I would stick to the stereo mode and use the tone controls.

    Glad your enjoying it.

I'm happy to hear that. I'm in the same shoes as you were. I also have Denon 3803 AVR with outlaw amp and was contemplating whether to upgrade to a separate pre-amp.
So can you please give me your impressions in differences between 3803 and Sherwood. I would appreciate it.
    Enjoy!!:)

I have had limited time with the new combo, however after yesterday i noticed the lsi's opened up quite a bit from when i had the denon.. the top end is much more defined and open. before i had to turn the treble (god forbid) up to +4 or more to hear the highs like i liked them.. now everything is flat 0 on bass and treble..

alittle more impact and better surround separation with effects..

I noticed a difference right away, it wasnt me trying hard to hear it either.

It was worth the meager investment for sure.. and it wasnt that much if i didnt notice a difference so i wasnt going in bias after a new purchase..
