In my opinion the 1C's are the most audiophile quality SDA's out there. I don't know the seller but if they are as he says then this is a good price.

    Madmax,

Not to disagree... ok, I'm disagreeing.... but, why do you think the 1C's are the most audiophile SDA?

    I've listened to the 1.2TL, 2.3TL, and the 3.1TL, and the CRS+.
All are very good and very similar. But, they really do sound best the bigger they get. My favorite is the CRS+. Its a really neat little speaker. The towers also sound very, very good. Please explain your judgement.

    Thanks.

Out of my pairs of SDA's the SDA 1C's have a somewhat quieter sound. Not sound level quiet but quieter between individual sounds. This makes it really easy to pinpoint all the little sounds that sometimes get lost with the 1.2's or SDA-SRS. Could be they just match the rooms they have been in? Maybe the xover is masking some sounds? Could be the combinations of the different amps and CD players happen to synergize with them... Could be a lot of reasons why. Given the many setups I've tried them in they are (in my opinion) the most audiophile quality speakers in the SDA line. I am defining "audiophile quality" as being able to hear finer details with them than I can with the others.

    madmax,

Oh... you are referring to the inevitable "noise floor".
    I agree... clearest is best.
Here is what bugs me about older Polks.
At low listening volumes, they don't come to life.
You have to really thump-em hard to get em to shine.
Not that this is much of a problem <grin>.
But, a lot of detail is lost at low spl's.

If you like detail... Thiel is by far the best I've heard.
I would love to compare my 3.1TL's to your 1C's.
I've heard some say that the 3.1TL's are the most audiophile
Polk speaker - besting the 2.3's and 1.2's.
I believe this to be true. The bigger ones are better from a sound stage perspective. But, I think the tweeter arrangement
in the line array speaker (single tweet) of the 3.1TL really has a nicely detailed sound. I'm sure the 1C's are similar.

The 1C's have 2 direct and 2 sda drivers with 2 tweet.
The 3.1TL's have 4 direct and 1 sda driver with 1 tweet.
I think the 4 direct drivers really, really helps the sound.

My Monitor 10 series 2 are substantially more muddy than
my 3.1TLs. My CRS+'s are incredible from an imaging perspective.
I also really enjoy the sound from the CRS+... it is my preferred
speaker for listening at moderate levels. The 3.1TL's are simply
huge for a home setup. Lots & Lots of volume capability.
The 2.3's and 1.2's are simply overkill - in my opinion.
    Nice overkill though.

I consider the CRS's the "coolest" speaker I own. The 2.3TL is very nice and clean. The SDA-SRS is the most fun (most effect) and the 1.2's are just monsterous.
Krom should be happy that we kept his add at the top!

Ok... CRS+ gets the nod for coolest speaker.
1.2TL gets the nod for monsterous speaker.
1-C gets the nod for audiophile studio-grade speaker.
3.1TL has got to be the rarest Polk speaker (1-year production).

Yes, $550 is an excellent/awesome price for good condition studio black 1C's.

Wish you best of luck in selling them.

I paid more than that to get mine and sold them to a friend for about $600 because he really wanted them. $550 is an excellent price!
