Well there is no real point to this post but to curb my excitement for Lollapalooza. I am up doing laundry and packing for my weekend in Chicago already. My girlfriend and I are going up to the windy city via amtrak on thursday and coming back the following monday. I have been looking forward to Lollapalooza since last November before I even met my girlfriend.

The anticipation is killing me so I'm just trying to pack everything I think I would need. I don't know if any of you are from Chicago but I was curious about how much taxi fares were, does anyone know?

Also if any of you take short trips like this what are a few good packing tips?

Thanks!
Adam

I don't know about cab fares and all of that since we always drive right in and take advantage of the parking structures right off of Grant Park. One thing I would suggest is plenty of water. Last year got hotter than all hell, and I was back with all the bands the entire time in the Lolla Lounge with free food and drink. So I can't imagine how miserable it would be in the giant crowds.

Have fun, I'm skipping it this year as my friends dropped out last week due to a scheduling conflict with their current tour. :(

I can't remember the exact rates, but it's $1.75 just to get in the cab, and $.25 for every additional passenger, I think. I don't remember how much it is per mile, as I never pay attention. Where are you staying? Depending on where you're staying, the CTA may be a better option. There's a Brown/Green/Orange/Pink line station a couple of blocks away from the park.

we are staying @ the Holiday Inn on 506 W. Harrison. It's no more than 2 miles away from anything we want to see/do.

I can offer the fact that you are indeed staying in a civilized part of the world (most say anyways) so if you forget something or another, don't sweat it, you can just buy it at a local store.

    Have fun!

You probably won't need to take a cab anywhere unless you're in a hurry. Check out the CTA's website www.transitchicago.com for further public transit info. Have a good time in Chicago, it's a great city!
