I must say that I hope that is a failed project.

But its a very cool piece of technology. We just, however - do not need it.

I'm sure no one in the world has a possible need or use for something like that. Just sent them a note and I'm sure they'll stop the project Sid.....

That is one slick little bugger, I'll admit.

His older, bigger brother, built by Boston Dynamics, can be read about here:

    http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=dn8802

There's a link in the first paragraph for a 28 meg WMV video file. Pretty cool and spooky, too.

Direct link is to video is:

Between the stampede to develop UAV's and robots, kind of makes one think that maybe Skynet isn't such a big stretch of the imagination.

Yes, Asimo inside the home, BigDog outside the home, future UAV's patrolling the area above, Homeland Security monitoring your communications, and ...... well ...... just what is it about feeling secure that you feel uncomfortable with ?

I'm sure they will think of uses for it. Even if it's just doing jobs people don't want to do.

In "Science and Invention" (Feb 1922):

Machines of destruction will be more terrible than anything concocted by the masterminds behind the 'World War'.
Armies and navies will sail under the ocean and through the skies with not a man on board. These death-dealing monsters of the sea and air will be controlled and directed from distant points hundreds or even thousands of miles away by radio waves of the proper sequence and frequency. Man will be the mastermind behind the future war, but machines only will meet in mortal combat."

I may have said it before, but while Nikolai Tesla may not have been God, God turned to him for advice. Often.

Key words for future warfare: robotics, UAV's, and Netcentric (courtesy of Boeing).
