Wireless router for home network (maybe)

Sorry for the "maybe", but this is one of those "may buy stuff if I can find good prices, otherwise may not buy" things.

My wife's niece is moving in with us for a year while she attends school. As I understand it, if she is unable to access MySpace, she will die. Of course she can use our computer, but I'm looking into setting her up in her room (she has a 2yo and this way she can stay with him while he's in bed). I found her a cheap (is free 'cheap'?) computer. We have DSL so to set her up wireless (the cable run is prohibitive) I need a wireless router. Here is what I've been looking at:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16833124010 $40 delivered.

The computer does have a wireless adaptor already (Linksys WMP11), but it is missing the antenna so I either have to track down an antenna and hope the adaptor works, or buy a new adaptor.

Her folks may help offset all the costs. My wife and I have already spent a lot of money and time remodeling our basement for her, so while $60-80 for a new router and adaptor may not seem like much, it'd be on top of a lot of other cash we've laid out. Hence, I'm checking here to see if any of the Polk technology junkies has a box full of wireless hardware taking up space that he's willing to practically pay me to take.

Remember - you'll be keeping a 19 year old girl - a 19 year old girl with a 2 year old son, nonetheless - from potential death.

Hahaha. I have a couple of wireless "B" routers, I can send you one for the cost of shipping, probably 4 or 5 bucks. Not guaranteed they'll work flawlessly, but I know before I put them back in their boxes they were working OK.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Well, the adaptor in the computer is a 'b', so at this point the g capability would be overkill anyway.

If you're cool with that, I'll gladly take you up on the offer. If the adaptor doesn't work at least I'll have a router that will work for now and I'll have to buy only a new adaptor.

    Thanks.

Obviously you'll choose which one you send. The adaptor is Linksys. The router will be on the first floor in the back of the house, her computer will be in the basement at the front of the house.

I'll PM you with an address. You do the same and I'll send you a check for shipping.

    Thanks again.

And the Polk Forum comes through again.

Bob is sending me a router for the cost of shipping. Cool.

I really need to get this girl up and running on her own computer. Already while on a little while tonight, I got IMed by "Stephen" and "Chris".
