SDA-SRS as home theater mains

I am getting ready to wire and aquire all my stuff (and am leaning toward the Samsung 40" LCD) (love the bright picture and price), and I am debating whether to use the SDA-SRS's as my home theater mains.

Just curious if many are using them for mains and if so, still use a sub. I still have my pair of DT BP-2000's, so I have flexibility. (I'm not commited to them whatsoever.) Don't know if this is an possible, but I don't want to "abuse" my big boys since 2 channel is priority number one. Are the SDA's really designed to handle the dynamics of home theater? Safely? Also, my room isn't huge, so I am concerned the SDA's might overpower the rest of the speakers (although I am sure they would have a huge sound) but that may be unfounded.

In any event, all speakers would have to reside in the same room as I don't have a dedicated home theater room. I know Sid will be all about the DT's....

I use the SDA-SRS for my fronts now for 5 years. I have used them with and without a sub. I like them with the sub and this also takes some pressure off the SDAs. The sound is very good. The problem is that most center speakers and rears can't match the SDA fronts. SO

You need SAD's all around, especially for the center. I use SDA 1.2 in the rear and a single SDA for the center. Now you need a big amp. It's endless.

What is the size of your room? I would think you would need at least a 12" wall for the speakers and TV.

My front wall is easily 12 feet wide and I have plenty of room from the side walls. I don't think putting an SDA speaker at center is practical. It won't fit on the mantle....The room size issue is more front to back as it isn't quite 15 feet. I can't put SDA's (or anything else) behind the listening position. The best I can do is right next to the couch or smaller speakers up high on the rear wall or in ceiling. I have DT surrounds as well and NHT Super Zero's I used in my previous setup, so I'm not commited to the SDA's. I just want the best sound. Since HT is my second priority and doesn't have to be on par with 2 channel, I could go with the DT's.

I considered using the DT towers for rear channel's next to the couch, but I'm not sure that will give me enough depth of sound. Of course, timber isn't going to match perfectly either.

I put the center SDA on it's side on the floor under the TV screen. I use a front projector.

I liked the SDAs as fronts so much that I didn't care if I had any other speakers in the room.

The Reel Time Rig does double duty for HT where subs are utilized for the low bass noises found in movie soundtracks. The rig is primarily a musical system where no sub is required.

RT, does that center channel balance your sound?
