Oh, just remembered I didn't post the names of the "must have" vinyl the guy told me about. I ordered them from acoustic sounds.
1 LAPP 027 Janis Ian Breaking Silence Low Serial Numbered Vinyl $ 35.00 $ 35.00 W
1 ALSC 2446Q Fritz Reiner Rimsky-Korsakov: Scheherazade 200 Gram Vinyl $ 29.99 $ 29.99 W
He also mentioned Led Zep's re-issue with Stairway to Heaven on it but I think if I ever hear any of those songs again I'll puke.Vinyl, the final frontier...

So, I just received the Janis Ian "Breaking Silence" LP last night. It is one of the low numbered test pressings. Put it on for a quick song because I didn't have much time. After the first measure of song one I knew I would be sitting there for the rest of the LP. Man, she has talent. Not only does she know how to put songs together and sing but she also knows how to lay it down on a recording! I give this one a 10. Most of the LP is very quiet and smooth. As far as performance goes, reminds me a lot of Alisan Kraus. (Cant spell her name right now for some reason). But, she keeps wanting to really belt stuff out and at a few points does. The sound is just amazing. I recommend this one!

That's the female artist I've been using to test my speakers with for the past month or two for the most part. I've been wanting to post her name in the what are you listening to thread but kept forgetting her name. I have some albums I picked up at ummmm BB goodwill to. Then I bought a cd with that song "17" on it.
I agree, her voice and the quality of recordings is top notch pretty much. I was mezmerized with my first sit down to listen to that cd. About 40 min. of WOW.
I felt she had talent because I'd find her albums with other jazz artists and the albums were always taken care of by somebody who cared for their belongings. I haven't played an album from her yet but when I get more room back again......I spin some of those gems I found at ummmmm.BB goodwill.
I spent an hr. talking the same stuff from a solo artist folk singer who was going to go to memphis to cut a CD as a matter of fact the next week. He bought some albums and passed me alot for my collection since he said he had multi copies of them back home. He really is a great ,Dylan style singer! Really. I have his name and web page info and I hope he makes it.
BB goodwill.....Hilarious. I can relate because of that day the artist helped me out but, for real....I like John Wayne movies waaaaay to much to tarnish or impair John's and my own image.:cheesygrin:Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -

Wow. I was reading the replies and noticed the members, then noticed the dates.
On a similar note. I went to an interview for a better position at my work the other day. At the end I was asked about my hobbies and I told the guy about my audio hobby. I went on about how much I like music and equipment and that I had been listening to lots of albums lately. He seemed interested and asked about my musical tastes and what kind of stereo I had. After I got done talking he told me about how he was starting to convert all his albums to digital and how he knew that the sound wouldn't match his turntable but that it made things easier. I think the BSing about music and gear lasted longer than the already long interview.Make it Funky!
