Suggestions for a new Polk line

I recently posted a thread with some real questions about speakers but made a comment about my wife not understanding why the answer to "don't you have enough speakers?" is absolutely not!!! Most of the replies to my original posts focused on the wife comment, not the speaker questions. Seems many of us are having a little trouble convincing significant others of the necessity of upgrading. So, here's my suggestion to the great people at Polk... make speakers that are significant other friendly.

For instance, my wife collects Christmas stuff, especially snowmen. I could get a truly amazing home theater system if fronts, surrounds, centers, and sub were made to look like a whole snowperson family!!!

Or, because I desire year-round use (although, in my family, snowmen are always on display somewhere all the time) maybe Polk could make a deal with Home Interior to make folksy-looking speakers. You know, LSi's that look like butter-churns. RTi's that sport a rustic wood finish and are decorated with faux twigs and berries. Center speakers with homey sayings like "Home Is Where the Heart Is" or "Love Lives Here" printed across their grills. Bookshelf speakers would seem (IMHO) to be just perfect (or, in my wife's language, "sooo cute") as birdhouses.

Polk surely could boost their sales and make life a whole lot easier for us Polkaholics!!

Whaddaya think? Other ideas?

I think you need to put the crack pipe down.

Polk doesn't need to do anything silly, for silly people. There are some guys out there that need to grow a big brass pair, however.

    Cheers,
    Russ

Just joking, Russ... a perhaps feeble attempt to add a little levity to the Clubhouse.

Will the fact that I bought a CS300 from E-bay last night partly because I read in other Polksters' threads that you've had good experiences with it help me to start growing my big brass pair? I promise that I won't put any candles or other knickknacks on it... as long as the wife says it okay!! :)

    It's all good howerika.:D

To me, balancing the hobby, and the "why do you need that" mindset of the significant other is the most challenging aspect of this hobby. It's all about the approach.

Still, it's kind of tough to convince anyone that spending >$1000 on a SVS
just to shake the walls is justifiable! Not that I won't try, though. ;)
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?

The 300 was my favorite Polk center, from all the RT(x) lines.

I wouldn't mind having one again myself.

    Russ,

I bought my CS300 for $42 yesterday. I think it's a steal at that price if it's as good as you and others say. I hope it's a decent match for my Monitor 7 and 4 outfit.

There's another one on Ebay for $80 with an $85 buy-it-now price if you're interested. They've listed it twice previously and have reduced the price since the first listing. I'm not sure if it comes with faux twigs and berries!!!

My mom (I'm 18 and live at home) gave me **** about my stereo for a long time until we put a JM Lab setup in the living room. The next thing she said about speakers was when I sold my Lsi's that I wasn't using. She said why are you getting rid of those? I got her hooked :)

    Shizelbs,

Thanks for the link to the snowmen speakers. I showed them to my wife and now she wants me to buy them for her for Christmas.

Do you think they sound better than Magneplanars?!!

I vote for the most retarded thread to date. I guess if you want polk to go under, this would be a great way for them to do so. I don't see a huge market for Snowmen speakers... hence those being sold for $5/pr.
Never kick a fresh **** on a hot day.

hahaha those Snowman speakers are AWESOME!

They should have a little chute where you can drop fake snow in front of the "midrange" driver so that it looks like it's shooting snow...but in fact it's using it's own power to disturb the air and propel the snow a good half an inch!

    At first, Toxis, I disagreed.

    But, after accepting heiney9's challenge:

..while viewing Refefer's audiophile snowman picture, I'm going to
    have to agree !

But you know what ? It's a GOOD retarded* !

...that heiney9 challenge is harder than it looks, btw.

*retarded in the sense of "slowed down from the usual pace"

Had lunch with Matt Polk and pitched the snowman line idea to him... he pitched it back to me faster than a Nolan Ryan slushball. So, I tried Bose. They loved it and are now going to start producing the Bose Snows line!!!
