I POD VIDEO DVDS transfer

I have heard news that it is possible to get your own DVDS or any video material (aside from just what you can get in I tunes) to your I pod video. Is this true? Anyone has had any experience with this? How can you take your DVDs to the ipod video? What software do you need?

If anyone would care to comment I would really appreciate it

    I was recently in Compusa and noticed they have software that rips dvds into your ipod. I forgot the name of the software (something like dvd to ipod) but I remember it was 29.95. They also had a bunch of other software from the same publisher. One that stood out was a program that allows you to do presentations on the ipod

    I just transferred a couple of movies, music videos, and season 6 of Friends to my iPod Video (30gb). The cleanest way (and work 100% all the time), is using two steps, two software:

    1. DVD Decrypter ver 3.5.4.0 (freeware). Make sure that you select the ISO file, set it at no file separation, streaming (to create one big .VOB file), assuming you have PC with Windows XP and NTFS formatted (not FAT32/FAT), and plenty of space (it will take upward of 4 GB per 1.5 hours of movie length). Also, the software will use buffering to decrypt.

    2. Videora iPod Converter.

    I am actually impressed with the details and quality of the pictures, albeit tiny. But, for those hours sitting on American's MD-80, it's golden!

    For converting for my pocket pc (resolution of 240x320) I just use dvd decrypter and autoGK. Both free programs and it's the best combo I've used so far. AutoGK does an amazing job of compressing and encoding to xvid/divx. I was using pocket divx encoder, but found this combo and found I could take a 60mb file from pocket divx and get the same quality from decrypter / autogk and get a file around 40mb.

    Lots of tutorials out there if you want to use this combo. I have one bookmarked but not on this computer. If you're interested just post and I'll see if I can give you the link.
