Why do my speakers sound better than ever?

I recently changed out my center channel for a pair of Bugg Circa bookshelf speakers. Now my center channel is sounding the best I've ever heard it. It even sounds better than the times when I had my center channel being powered by a Marantz monoblock.

I can only think of two possible reasons:

1. My current speakers are simply better than what I had before (Polk Csi40, Ascend Acoustics, Soliloquy, modified BIC, etc.); and/or

2. Since my receiver is not powering the fronts, there's more "juice" for the center channel ???

I dunno.

Your Fletcher-Munson curve is kicking in and the Buggtussels cater to that.

I saw that and my question remains -- huh?

Specifically, how does the F-M curve of the Buggs create a perceived improvement, not in loudness, but in sound?

It's simple -- I wanna be able to improve the sound with my next series of upgrades. That's the motivation for all things audio.

    Enjoy the sound? C'mon -- that's a minor consideration...

    Yeah -- atmosphere.

This audio hobby is a lot like golf -- most people really don't play the game too often, but they own a nice set of $400 clubs just in case they ever decide to use them.

There are alot of variables man...

Maybe perhaps this speaker really is that much better...

Maybe positioning, maybe you moved some furniture...maybe you lost weight.. maybe you gained weight. Maybe your wife is watching you in a different position in the room...

Who knows... so many variables that can add to and take away on the sound.
