Sweet, I was looking around for something kind of like this for college. Definantly an option. Though this may be a bit better, would definantly get better sound quality.

Totally different function......polk is portable speakers, the marantz is just to dock into the HT.

Oh, I know. But in a dorm, they serve the same purpose.

Shizelbs, are you po'd that the Polk offering is portable speakers, or are you po'd that the Marantz is a IR controlled docking station ?

Marantz's look promissing, it can be perfect if they can add digital out.

I wonder how it sounds....or what sets it apart from the hundreds of other sets just like this for the ipod.

There is quite a bit of competition in this arena, and they seem to be a little late to the game. Maybe thats a good thing though.

I don't really like the way it looks and I am seriously concerned with how it sounds. MSRP is $120 so it'll probably sell for $100 in stores. I question it's success already.

That would be perfect for travelling, I've grown tired of hauling my Tivoli table radio and portable cdp around.

    Hey! Where's the SDA effect??

I've had this for about a year and love it for traveling:

Telescopes and folds to fit in a draw string tote. Built-in amplification. Also has "surround sound" that is highly reminiscent of the SDA sound. Doesn't charge the iPod though.

I have a few pairs of the Polk Computer speakers that were making the rounds a few years ago and I absolutely love the things. They're larger than this particular unit, but I think they should sound pretty good.
