New gear, slew of new options...

I came upon a "divorce settlement sale" last week and took full advantage. He got to keep his Vandersteen speakers, but had to give up a lot. the ex-wife couldn't get rid of his gear fast enough (except the Lexicon and Niles pieces that she wanted too much money for).

I picked up a receiver- Pioneer Elite VSX-37TX, 301 disc DVD- P.E. DF-07, Rotel RB-985 MKII amp, and a Paradigm Servo 15a Sub (which I picked up for a friend- finances don't allow me to keep it).

The rig will be used 50% for music (mostly 2 channel) and 50% HT. Call me crazy, but I prefer my RT55i's for 2 channel listening to the RT1000p's. I have everything setup fairly vanilla right now, 5 channels from the amp to 5 speakers, with the fronts (55i's) bi-wired. I'd like to try EVERY combination possible- bi-wiring, bi-amping, using receiver and / or amp, etc., but I don't have, and don't want to buy, every speaker wire, adapter, and connector that I'd need to try all possible combinations, so I thought I'd seek input here from those with vast experience.

Here are my options... (There may be more. I'm open to ideas)

1) current- 5 speakers run off of the 985 with fronts bi-wired

2) would you ever bi-amp (fronts / rears / both) with the receiver amps running the tweeters?

3) bi-amp 55's from 985, run them and center from amp, run rears off receiver?

Thanks for your input.

Congrats on the new gear! Why not try out all the combinations and see which one sounds the best to you? I'm not trying to be flip, just that your space may have more influence on the sound than we can appreciate.

Thanks. I didn't believe you were being flippant. That's the response I should have expected here, but I was hoping for a short cut!!
