Finally! After 3 dismal CD's, QR finally come out with a very good recording.

Operation Mindcrime 2, while not as good as the first (which is my alltime favorite album) it is still quite excellent.

The recording still seems a little flat as does Tate's vocals but not anywhere near as bad as their last 3.

The songs are also much better and are more like QR's older stuff from Warning and the EP but still different enough to not be throwbacks.

The story is stupid though which sucks cause the first one was brilliant. Basically he gets out of jail, kills Dr X and then spends the rest of the CD whishing he was dead because life sux.

Still, the more I listen to it, the more I like it!

Hallelujah! Ive been a devoted QR fan for 18 years and am glad to see them hopefully coming back around.

    This is too funny. I just stuck Operation Mindcrime in my player not 3 days ago. I'll be picking this one up, thanks for the heads up. Great band!!!

    OM... phenominal album. I'll definitely give this one a stern listening...

    I saw them live in January on their anniversary MindCrime tour... I got to see the entire origonal Operation Mindcrime tour show :D

    A word of advice: give it a couple listenings.

    When you first put it on, youre going to automatically be comparing it to Mindcrime 1, which nothing can compare to so its not going to sound that great to you. But, if youre a QR fan, this album WILL grow on you within 4 or 5 listens.

    I agree. You have to listen to it multiple times, but it just keeps getting better and better.

    Not quite as good as the first, but what possibly could have been?

    All in all, a solid attempt at trying to follow up on a masterpiece.

    Tate has definitely lost some vocal range though with age.

    It's $10 a BB so I'm going to pick it up. I listened to the sample tracks online and it left me cold and not wanting. But for the cheap price I'll go by the recommendations here and give it several spins.

    So Ron-P, did you get this yet, and if so, what do you think?

    Queensryche SHOULD have been the biggest band to come out of Seattle in the 80s/90s IMO. They were MUCH better than Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, AIC, Nirvana, etc. Now when I hear a Nirvana song on the radio, I immediately turn the station.

    I got this CD when it first came out. I give it a thumbs up. Not as good as MC1 though.

    Nothing can compare to MC1 :D I still remember the first time listening to it. Drove from Colorado springs to denver, and I did not want to get out of the car when I got home.

    Definitely the greatest album of all time! It had it all. Every single song was just brilliant. Not only in the song itself but in how it fit the story. Suite Sister Mary is just a masterpiece and a perfect song for the story line.

    Have to agree with you there! I havent gotten mindcrime 2 yet but look foward to picking it up. Listened to the original mindcrime just the other day and forgot how much i enjoy listening to that album
