My oldest son was going to take my youngest son so see the new "Pirates" movie. I told my youngest son he couldn't go.
He asked me why. I told him he couldn't go see it because it was rated
"Aaaarrrrrrrrrrr !".
Should I have said that ? Was I wrong ?

Yes, you were wrong, he didnt deserve a reason.

Well, it depends on how old that son is.
I could see it being a problem if the son is over 30. And I generally would want to keep kids away from disney movies anyway.dvd player: samsung DVD-HD850

I don't know about the deserve part, but the parent definitely doesn't have to explain themself to the child."SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

I don't get it....are you saying you told him it was rated R even though it's PG-13?
-
I think he was making a pun -- the "ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR" pirate sound and an R-rating..I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

If he was under 13 you did the right thing. If he's over 13 let him go.
If it's neither then it's just a bad pun."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

I was starting to worry.
They did see "Pirates", but I did use that line on them before they left.
Try it out at home yourselves, it's actually pretty dang funny.

But....I'm not about to admit failure.
Hey, kids ...... grab the cat, an eyepatch, and the smallest pirate costume you can find. We've got some work to do !!Sal Palooza -

We were wanting to work off this basic theme:
We'd get the cat, work a little trim here and there. Get rid of the satin swim cap and replace it with something a little more "piratey". Add an eye patch,
and fine tune as needed.
Well, our intial efforts with the first cat were a complete disaster.
Without going into all the details, he was completely non-cooperative and definitely had an attitude. How he wound up stuck in the blinds is .... well, we don't need to go into that.
I'll tell you one thing, though: he got himelf stuck in those blinds, he can get himself out !!
My oldest son seems to think he stopped breathing, but I know how that furrball operates. He's just faking !!
The second cat worked out a little better, I think. We still have some work to do, but ..... here's the results of our first efforts:
We had some trouble getting his hair to stand out like that. Conditioner and hair spray just wasn't holding up. My youngest son came up with the good idea of using honey, and setting it with the hairdryer. Worked out well.
As soon as my son-in-law finishes carving the peg leg (he's a carpenter), we'll start with phase II. The daughter will help with that, too. She's a dental hygentist, so we figure she's got the necessary skills. Heck, the only difference between a dental implant and a peg leg implant is fur.
I think. Well, I guess we'll find out.
So..... stay tuned. We're putting a lot of effort into this, but we think it'll pay off in the long run.Sal Palooza -

Despite my best efforts, I don't think my pirate cat turned out very well.
cat pirate cut 1.bmp cat pirate cut 2.bmp
See what I mean; it KINDA looks a little piratey, but ......
But it looks better than what my kids came up with: I gave them my charge card, told them to get what supplies they needed, and left them to their own efforts downstairs. Well, after 3 days down there, well .... I dunno. Sounds like they had fun; lots of laughing and giggling and other noises, but THIS is what they came up with after 3 days on their own:
No way in heck does THAT look like a pirate !! What were they thinking ?
It is kind of neat how they taught the cat to talk, though. And with a French accent no less ! I wonder how they did that ?
So, I admit defeat. I have to go now; Visa called about some questionable and excessive charges in the last few days, so I have to go check that out.Sal Palooza -
