When people talk about SACD and setting the setting in my Denon 3910 from 50 Hz or 100 Hz which is the better or why does this setting exist what does it do??
My amp is the Denon 3805 connected via Denon Link 3rd generation at the moment it is set to 100hz.
Could anyone out the tell me ???

I might be missing your question but the lower Hz crossover setting has nothing to do with SACD per say, Are you trying to do bass management for SACD? If so or for any other format, its not the format of the disc but the ability of the other speakers in your system that bests determines what you set your bass crossover at.
If it is set to 100HZ it simply means bass under that Hz will be sent to the sub instead of that speaker. There is some thought that sending bass to the sub free's up wattage for the other channels resulting in better sound, your results may vary.

Oh yes, I forgot, although I am not presently using Denon I do like their gear, congrats on your system and welcome to club Polk, for me SACD is best digital disc format.

If you're asking about the "SACD FILTER" setting of either 50Khz or 100Khz shown on page 42 of the Owner's Manual, these settings are used to allow high frequency cut off above those two numbers being sent to your reciever or preamp.
In typical Denon manual fashion, they don't explain why you would want to select one or the other. After searching the AVS " Official Denon 3910" thread I found some discussion on this, with most members setting their 3910's to 50Khz. IIRC. the majority felt that the 100Khz might damage their speakers if the SACD disc had defects. I set my 3910 to 50Khz and haven't had any problems. -
Hz or kHz makes a huge difference.Political Correctness'.........defined

If you listen to music with a 100hz crossover point...
You...
A) Have very tiny speakers...
or
Have a horrible subwoofer.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

Not so fast! Depending on the placement on the main speakers, Yiu may need to put more into the subs. My SDA-2.3s are 13" from the rear wall to place the front speaker baffle out in fron of the entertainment center. The bass falls of dramatically as compared when the 2.3 are say 6" from the wall. I divert more of the lfe (around 80 Hz) into the subs, blend the sub output to provide a better overall bass management. I do use the "Polk method" turning the sub selector switch to "off", diverting the LFE effects into the front channels. I use the preouts from the front amp to feed the sub. Adjust the crossover and sub level to "blend" the low end. I get a nice balance of bass management. You really can't tell the sub is in the room until you turn it down. I've suggested to many people to give this a try, most were surpised at the results. The Polk people themselves recomment this method over the convention use of the LFE output connector from the receiver for bass management. Don't knock it until you've given it a try. It does take some work with the adjustments. Use a bass sweep for both setups. It will surprise you.
BTW, I use a SVS Pb-12/isd SUBCarl -
IMO...
For music, anything above 65hz or so is far to much...- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

If you can hear the difference in 50khz and 100khz...

No ****, I'd be lucky to hear anything above 15kHz...I believe the "default" setting is 50kHz filtering.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

Right on Steve, likely having something to do with unwanted harmonics or such, seems the fellow was a bit confused with Hz and Khz.
You fellows set your subs for music wherever you like, not an issue for me. I am just to set in my ways for my own good I suspect.

Lucas's 80hz for subs.... is good movies...
For me, 80hz in music involved way to much localization. Also has a bit to do with the speakers though and their roll off point.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
The 50khz cutoff is to reduce the high noise floor that is inherent on SACDs all the way up to 100khz. You can't hear it with your human type ears, but if you had an ultra wide bandwidth amplifier and speakers that could produce the signals, (some can), putting alot of wattage into them would fry your tweeters without even making a sound that you would hear.
Most use the 50khz setting to help with this issue.HT Optoma HD25 LV on 80" DIY Screen, Anthem MRX 300 Receiver, Pioneer Elite BDP 51FD Polk CS350LS, Polk SDA1C, Polk FX300, Polk RT55, Dual EBS Adire Shiva 320watt tuned to 17hz, ICs-DIY Twisted Prs, Speaker-Raymond Cable
