i have had to jump ship on the cambridge audio DVD79 ($70)deal(those of you that resonded to my thread would know what i am talking about), as i waisted some time on buying it and when i got to there to the dealer that was selling to me, it was sold out, but the sad thing is that South Africa does not have/sell Cambridge audio as a brand anymore and it does not look like they will be selling it anytime soon. i wanted to buy the Azur 640C V2 but cant get it as cambridge wont import to me either.
which leaves me with the next choice, i am looking at the Marantz 5001OSE, cant get enough info except on Audioreview.com. Has anyone tried it here and are the OSE versions from Marantz worth the extra $$$ or not, i could go rotel RCD03 but i cant afford that yet and maybe not for a while so Marantz is still within my reach. The yamaha cdx495(not sure of the model number) is also within my reach but i wasnt aimimg for entry level, wanted to try the "better" stuff if you can call it that. are there any suggestions as to what player is value for money at this price point, not so exited about SACD/DVD-A as there arent that many in South Africa or in general for the kind of music i like, so this isnt an issue. i just want a player that does stereo music and does it good, if possible excelent. i dont do surround, too complicated to understand, too many formats, sound format etc.
i want to get the Marantz PM7001, Rti8 blahhh blahhhhh, but thats another story altogether.i have a cheap receiver thats for movies and i am content with and dont care for it much except i just dont think its doing music to good.
please help.
