My brother built a light box for under $50 to take photographs of items to sell on ebay etc. We used his 3 year old Canon digital camera that's 3.2 megapixels to take the picture. I think it came out pretty well for our first try :D

Was it his own design for the light box, or did he find it somewhere???

    Works great it looks like.

The problem is it looks too good. Some people would assume it was a stock pro image that you grabbed. I would recommend something to identify it as yours, like maybe your EBAY user id at the bottom of the photo. Just print it out in color on a white sheet of paper and let the light box shine up through it. I might be excessive paranoid too! I have seen too many high end headphone auctions lately that were scams.

    Thanks guys!

After we took the pics I thought that I should have put some sort of identifier in the picture, but oh well, too late for that :)

I'll get in touch with him and have him e-mail me the links to where he got his ideas.

His looks identical to the one in this link. He said it took him an hour to build it.

    Mazeroth,

What bulbs / lights are you using? I've built one and the pictures look somewhat yellow. I'm using GE Reveal :(

This is most probably due to your WB settings. Try different settings for WB, or the best is to use a custom setting for you background (if your camera has the ability)

My company has one of these and it works nicely. Gave us pics like this when combined with the right lights.

But, for the cheaper DIYer, I stumbled across this beauty which is about the same thing as what Mazeroth posted but just a bit different in the process and materials.

Your white balance. Sometimes even setting it will give something unfavorable.

If you haven't set it, get something white in there that won't be opaque with the light on (Like a stack of printer paper) and then through your settings, manually set the white balance on the white object.

If that doesn't work, try some preset modes. For your situation, set the WB to Tungsten, that may resolve it.

    Thanks,

I did a custom white balance, and this what I got.

Do I need to replace these bulbs, or do I need more bulbs?

Either replace with higher wattages or get more. Of course, there is no such thing as too many lights. You can turn them off if you want but, if you don't have them, you can't turn them on...

Oh, and if you don't have a manual focus option, you will want to put those items closer together because you have a whole range of focus there. Heck, even with one item, I found it hard for my autofocus (Canon Digital Rebel) to do a good job and switched to manual.
