I know he hasn't done much in the last 34 years, but still a huge influence on music.

I've had Pink Floyd on my mind all day (Pulse is being released today) albeit not anywhere near Syd's Era...

I am not a Pink Floyd fan (yet) but Syd's life intrigued me. I hope he's finally free of his demons.

    RIP Sid.....WYWH

    RIP

Pink Floyd may not be known for his work, but it was certainly some of the most creative music I have ever heard. Long live the Gnome.

I just read this and thought it was nice that they made sure he got his share.

"He reverted to his real name, Roger Barrett, and spent much of the rest of his life living quietly in his hometown of Cambridge, England. Moving into his mother's suburban house, he passed the time painting and tending the garden. His former bandmates made sure Barrett continued to receive royalties from his work with Pink Floyd."

I also read something that the album "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" was fairly successful and was critically acclaimed. I may have to check it out.

Can anyone chime in on this album?
    No excuses!

I like it, but be prepared as it's quite different from the Floyd MOST people know. Very psychedelic!!

RIP. I heard a story on the radio today. Pink Floyd's drummer (can't remember the name) was being ionterviewd. He told the story about Sid showing up at the recording studio while they were recording "Wish You Were Here" no one recognized him because of his weight gain and hair loss.

Sid was suffering from diabetes for years, which is a result of taking certain dopomine regulators for his mental health issues.

Sad, his whole life's story is very sad. RIP

They were recording Shine on you Crazy Diamond, and it was 1975. The rest of that is right. :o

His "hair loss" was that he had shaved off his eyebrows.

You meant Nick Mason. I read about that as well....Nick said that the band couldn't recognize Syd because his appearance has changed so much. Nick mentioned both he and Roger was in tears when they realized it was Syd sitting in on the recording session.

Slightly off-topic....I noticed that all 4 members of PF are currently on tour. Nick and Richard are playing on both Rogers and Gilmore's gigs.

Isn't waters doing DSOTM on his tour? I saw ticket prices for around my area and they were by auction only and prices were up over 300. Obnoxious.

Glad I've seen Waters twice then in Chicago, and Waters once. That's too much for over the hill rock stars.
