Now that is wild! I am primarily an alto player. I have a Reference 54 Alto. What a helluva horn. I guess Selmer sold alot of 'em.

yeah, I love my reference 54 tenor. However I primarily play bari, and I use my Yamaha Pro YBS-62, best bari I've ever picked up and played.

edit: re my Tenor yts-23, unfortunately, I'd offer it to sell except it got stolen along with my car on new years day 2004. They recovered the car and I still drive it every day unfortunately my tenor (the yts-23 at the time) and bari (which was also a ybs-62, fortunately I had it insured. Didn't bother to insure the tenor, heh)

Just got back from Denver...with a new Used Tenor Sax! This thing is in excellant condition and has been sitting in a case since 1978. The lady we bought it from played it for 3 years and then put it away. The case is a little beat up, but the inside of the case is spotless.

    For $250...we stole it!:D

    Nice buy Frank!

You should rig up an inspection light (7 watt clear xmas tree light soldered and taped to an old extension cord) works great. This will fit nicely down the bell and neck hole of a tenor to test for leaks on all keys. Have your daughter press the keys down with normal pressure and look for light coming from around the closed pad. Light = air leak and she will have a tough time getting the notes out with leaks. 30 year old pads that have been wet tend to harden, but I doubt a whole repad is in order.

Glad you got her into a nice horn for reasonable dough!

Happy to hear it. Keep me inform. I'm sure she will do well! I like to see the enthusiasm from the parents.
