Hi, guys, Im from Curacao, Netherlands Antilles.
Im glad to be part of the Polk family. Im a new Polk owner and have some questions. Im had a home theater system (I had an RCA) in the past but Im heard about Polk and decided to change my home theater system into a new one. I have bought everything separately. Before I change my system I was told that I have to change woofer. So I bought amplified Subwoofer from Polk. (A PSW450). (I begin directly a Polk fan.).
Then I was told that I have to change the receiver because the sub is to Big for de RCA receiver. So I bought a bought an Onkyo 603 (7.1 system). The receiver and the Sub were to big for the RCA speakers and I decide to buy a CS1 center speaker and two monitor 30 as the rear speakers (Surround back). I got then two secondhand (but in very good condition) Rti 70 for a good price. My questions are.
- Is this a good combination (the center, rear with the Rti 70.)?
- At about what high do I have to place the rear speaker to good better sound? My room is about 3 meter X 5 meter. And about 3 meter high.
- In the near future Im planning to put two more speakers as the surround speakers. What Polk series do you recommend me?
I hope my letter wasnt to long. Ill wait for the answers.

Hi WiWi welcome to the Polk Forums. Sounds like you got yourself a decent setup there. From reading you post I'm guessing you're coming from an Home Theater in a Box type of setup. So I'll walk you some things you'll need to know.
Your speaker combination isn't bad, usually it's nicer to stay within the same series for a uniform sound, but you have to be very sensative to notice it. I think you have yourself a great set.
The rears your going to want to put them at about 30-33 inches high, or 0.762-0.8382 meters. Also make sure they are positioned correctly. This is a link to a pretty decent placement guide:
http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/34579/129023.html
Now on to you receiver. The Onkyo 603 is a nice receiver, I have one myself. Some things to note about hooking it up though. Since you have a 5.1 for now make sure you are hooking what you consider your rear speakers into the "Surround" terminals, not the surround back. The surround back ones are for 7.1, the speakers that are directly behind you will go into there.
Once you have all your speakers hooked in and properly placed you should calibrate the speakers. You can find many guides to doing this yourself on the internet or you could just run the Auto Calibration tool that comes with your Onkyo. The auto calibration may have to be tweeked afterwards to suit your taste. There is a little microphone that came with the receiver, it looks like a little funnel with a long wire attached to it. plug that into the front of you receiver in the mic jack, turn on your tv to an input the receiver is on, hold the microphone with the pointed end up, and hold it at ear level while sitting in the main listening position in the room. The receiver will send 2 rounds of loud static through your speakers and sub and it is VERY VERY important that there is silence during this calibration, even in other rooms of the house. Once thats done apply the results, or retry the test if someone made some noise and you'll be set. Give your speakers a couple weeks to get broken in and they should start to shine.
Now as for surround rears I would go with another set of monitor 30's.
Hope all of that helps, and again welcome to the Polk community. -
I, will consider that. some else has more suggestions ?

The current RTi series would be your best match for the RTi70's. If you have already purchased the CS1, then you will be okay, but if you haven't, take a look at the CSi3 or CSi5 to match provide a better match.
FXi30's(used), FXi50's(used) FXi3's(new), or FXi5's(new) would be good side surround speakers.
You might even want to put your rear speakers up higher, if you are not using stands and want to hang them on the wall. 1.5 meters would not be too high, but 1 meter will be fine too.
BTW, I welcome you to the forum as wellTschüss

rear surrounds you want 1 to 1.5 meters above where you sit to watch movies. that will be the best placement for surrounds.
I agree with okiepolkie on his suggestions for speakers for center and surrounds. but nothing wrong with the ones you have already.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
Vancouver, Canada Sept 30th, 2012 - Madonna concert  -
Thank you guys for your advice.
OK, Okiepolkie I have already purchased the CS1 and de monitor 30, but I’m planning to hook to more speakers on the receiver.
- Should I buy the fxi series or the monitor series? ;
- If I purchase the fxi series should I hook them up as surround ore surround back? And put the monitor 30 on surround.
- CGEHEE, how do you experience the TX 603, tell me more about the calibration of the speakers.
- Considering the speakers that I have, at what hz do I have to put the sub.
