always wondered what most people who use this mode set it to? Right out of the box, it's set to 3. the smaller the number, the more center heavy. I have the Center Width currently set to 4, Dimension 0, panorama to OFF. Blends the best with all 3 front channels without the center/heavy sound. Has anyone played with this CENTER WIDTH setting?

    Thanks for the heads up. I noticed that my HK sounded center heavy, even though the center channel level and the fronts are set to 0db. I'm going to play with this a bit and get back to you.

    Forget about it. Just set it to regular 2channel stereo or Logic7 and forget about it. Maybe it's the wine in me, but every CD I play with both Logic 7 and Dolby PrologicII, the former comes out the better EVERYtime.

    I agree with aaharvel. Dolby PL IIx is CRAP and should not even be allowed to be put on a receiver/preamp. PLIIx is a SIMULATED 5.1/7.1 from a 2-channel source. It's not even great enough to be considered HT material. Sorry for being so blunt but I cant stand Dolby PLIIx. It doesn't deserve to bear the name Dolby
    Don't forget to look at My Home Theater :D

    Receiver - Onkyo TX-SR503
    Fronts - Polk Audio Monitor 40
    Center - Polk Audio CS1
    Surrounds - Paradigm Cinema ADP
    Subwoofer - Velodyne VRP-1200

    I don't use PLIIx Music, but for low to moderate volume 2 channel music listening. To get some simulated room resonances, I use PLIIx Movie, and set my center speaker to None. For higher volumes, I switch to stereo.
    Win7 Media Center -> Onkyo TXSR702 -> Polk Rti70

    I use PLIIx on my Denon 3805 and it sounds amazing on my equipment and does not even give the impression that it is going through a decoder or sound compressed or gives a digital sound at all. I do not use any of the other settings that are available with PLIIx I just use the basic processor and the 3805 does it's magic and I have to say I am bloody impressed and still feels very analogue to me compared to what I have herd from other people and other threads, it could be that you guys are using a make of amp that can not reproduce the music to well with it decoders or processors.

    Stick to Denon, Arcam and Yamaha for the best sound in pure direct or PLII x.:D

    I don't think that the PL IIx or PL II Music sounds too bad, but prefer the H/K Logic 7 mode if I am an the mood for 5.1 channel music. I usually stick with 2 channel though.
