That's right folks, looks like Denon might be doing a line refresh in the near future. So if your interested in this receiver:

I would check the dealers for closeout specials.
Just thought I would pass the info.

That's kind of suprising. Isn't that a new model? A slight upgrade from 3805.

Got the news from our Denon rep today, and it went discontinued in our system as well. Maybe they're going to make a CI model like they did with the 4806.
Either that or they might be making their retailer partners re-sku it for some small hardware update, in either case retailers will still have to clearance the old sku. -
Hey , That has just only come out here in the UK well mid of last year to replace the 3805 .. I think.

Denon has been releasing newer versions of their receivers pratically every year. A few months after you have bought it, it's obsolete! I know technology changes rapidly, but that's ridiculous!Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2

It's still a good receiver whether or not it's been discontinued. Good chance for a hot deal.

All companies that make receiver or preamps will be rushing to churn out the new models. There is just so much new stuff to add right now. HDMI 1.3, 1080p video switching, dolby truehd and DTS HD, XM HD, and Multichannel LPCM over HDMI. Am I forgetting anything?Speakers: LSi9 x 2, LSic, LSiFX x 2, Velodyne HGS-15

Well I have still got my Denon 3805 and had it for just over two year now and intend of keeping it for at least another 2 or so more years before I upgrade again , I want to get my moneys worth out of it first . After this entire big beast cost me £1,000.... It does become a little annoying when they do this... But Yamaha and some of the other big names do the same thing to. I think it done to keep ahead in the market, at least give it a few years before changing the models.
I brought my 3805 about a month after it came out and I thought this would be it for at least 2 years or may be three year before they consider changing the models. When I had the 3803 that lasted a good few years before they changed it I give up sometimes...
As they say another one bites the dust:rolleyes: -

I'm right there with you. I see no reason to upgrade my equipment until this is available, and for a decent price.Brian Knauss

Updated today, looks like Denon will be refreshing most of their budget line (sub $1000) receivers starting next month (if the model ends in a 6 it's jumping to a 7). As for the higher end, such as the 3806 they're only discontinuing their SILVER models. Strange move.

Not necessarily an odd move -- they can release the same receiver each year with minor upgrades and still charge a lot of money. DTS-HD and Dolby True-HD are obvious upgrade choices. The biggest problem with thse frequent upgrades is that the analog amplifier section doesn't get upgraded. The AVR-3600 is still a better 2-channel receiver than the AVR-3806 even though it was a pre-dts receiver. The question is always if the added benefits of DTS-HD over regular DTS will be noticeable on the AVR-3806, or if the pre-amp and amplifier stage will mask those benefits.
