I am seriously bored at work, nothing to do and this site is dead, yet I see a whole list of names at the bottom.

On a side note, I did just re-stock the beer (man) fridge. Got me some;

Steelhead Extra Stout
Full Sail Amber
Flying Dog Ale
Widmer Bros. Hefeweizen
Sam's Oatmeal Stout
Pyramid IPA
Orchard Street Porter

It is going to be a glorious weekend. Beer (lots of).

Peace Out~:D

Yeah, last night I finished my last winter bottle of wine -- a Penfold's Shiraz -- and now I have to prep for the upcoming beach vaca and my summer drinking: BEER.

Ron... Recommend me a good Sam Adams-esque, darker beer. Not porter, but not Pete's Wicked (which is lame now). I need something that's not THICK, but not boring. Tasty and sweet, but not chocolate. Caramel hops.

Winter = wine. Summer = beer.

    AND IT'S SUMMER BAY-BEE!

Micah, that Full Sail Amber fits exactly what you described. Also, Grant's Scottish Ale, Mirror Pond Pale, and Sierra Nevada Pale (if you like hops). A Bock style might also fit the bill (can't think of any brands off the top of my head). Not sure about availability, though, as I'm in Idaho... Guiness Draught (with the little nitrous bubble in the can) doesn't taste as dark as it looks, and would probably be available there.

Yep, it's a few hours from the end of Friday, and I got beer on the brain...

Bass, Boddington's, Yeungling (sp?), Harp, Sam Smith (infinite varieties, Oatmeal Stout is a good dessert beer) John Courage, Newcastle........that's a start

Most of the Amber style beers will fit your taste buds. Full Sail is one of my favs. As Troy said, Newcastle is another good one. If you can find it, Orchard Street Stock Ale is excellent, but like I said, tough to find. Here's the label

Their Porter is also excellent. You might like it.

When I was in Norfolk, VA over spring break, I tried a St. George's IPA that was really good. you may like that micah. it's also brewed in Virginia so it should be pretty easy to find. try some Abita Turbodog (from LA) if you see it. it's a dark ale. that's what I'm going to send to Ron-P sometime in the near future, whenever I have enough money to buy beer at the store.

Enjoying a Pyramid Pale Ale, a little on the sweet side, light with a little bite to it. Very nice.

Dont know if you can get it where you are but here goes, Summit Extra pale ale or Summit great northern porter. Summit brewery is in St Paul MN but they distribute out of state. great brew. after a few of these you could drum up a 12 second, 4 octave **** that will drive the dog out of the room.

Fat Tire is probably my fav. domestic brew, but you can't get it anywhere East of TX. if i want to have a pint of it, i'd have to drive 5 hours to Houston.

Gaffer I have had the Summit brew in Minneapolis.

Very good flavor. I felt it was right up there with Fat Tire.

GREAT! You guys ROCK. We need to drink together! Altho most of what you guys suggested seems to be too light for me (I love IPAs, but I'm looking for something a little darker), I plan to try the following:
    PYRAMID PALE ALE
    ABITA TURBODOG
    FULL SAIL AMBER
and maybe a Bock (I'll try to find more than just SHINER)

I'll go beer shopping for my beach trip in a day or so, I'll let you know what I find.

    Now I'm thirsty!
