What will I find next? This looks like fun to play with. I remember these old record players from my grade school days. They had a good, loud, clear and full sound, at least that was what a ten year old thought of them...
Should have it in a few days. Now, all I need are a stack of 45's. If anyone has any I have a WTB ad in the flea market.

As soon as I pick up a Michael Jackson "Bad" 45 I'm going to use it to practice his dance moves.

Cool find Max. I'd like to find something like that which would play some old RCA 78's i have."There's a lot of places driving up and down I-95 that smell like ****" F1Nut

That was part of my reasoning too, old 78's. They just don't sound good through a hi fi system, at least with what I have currently.Vinyl, the final frontier...

Just got this baby. The seller had some old feedback such as "wasn't mint like he said" and with the player being over 30 years old I figured "mint" in the ad meant "works". After all, he had a pretty low BIN price and shipping seemed low. It showed up in mint condition, double boxed with lots of padding and wrapped in plastic garbage bags. Mint I guess with the exception of a small abrasion on a bottom corner which would not be out of place coming directly from the factory.
In summary, this thing is brand new! It even has that new sparkling look to it. Sound is OK but it needs a little help on the high end. The single full range 10" doesn't have enough top end but the lows to mids are right in line. I had read that somewhere so it was no real surprise. I'm making a tweeter array for it now while running some tests at work. One thing that is really cool is there is a window on the front of it which you can view a strobe allowing you to set the speed. Looks like it might have a bunch of mirrors inside to give you the image. Some other cool features are a 10" table (perfect for 78's) and it will play those super big transcription discs as well. Oh yea, one downside is the rubber record mat is loose. I guess the glue they used was only good for 25 years...

Did you buy that off of Ebay, or Ubid, or ?
Craigslist doesn't have BIN, I think.
Cool stuff.Sal Palooza -
Chuck, I will see if the Mrs wants to part with hers, which are kept in a vintage circa 1960 45 record storage case, she never plays them just asks me if they are still in the shed and reminds me they are hers.
That machine is really cool, yea, the problem with 45's is they were so small that the valley between the lip and the label had to be made more steeply, so the stylus is pretty much at a different angle than 33's. Of course none of that stuff mattered in the least back in the day, just listened to the band and the music, those were the days........

I got it off ebay. RT, I didn't understand that lip/label thing. Please explain if you care to.
I got home at about 2 am but still had to try the tweeter array I built last night at work with the unit speaker. That was just the ticket! I used 4 of those cheapy piezo plastic tweeters wired in parallel and it worked out great. I made a holder to keep them in position and just sat them on top of the speaker. I don't want to modify the unit itself. Just the right amount of volume from them but maybe a little too much extension. I might try a cap and resistor to roll them off a bit. The only thing in the super high frequencies is noise anyway.
I'm especially pleased with it for 78's. I played a few fox trots and they sounded almost as authentic as the victrola. A little tweeter work would probably fix that too.

Sweet Madmax, this t/t is really cool. I really like the portability of this unit.
Yep, on the short list for sure.
Enjoy!"There's a lot of places driving up and down I-95 that smell like ****" F1Nut -
