Vienna Speakers

Walked into a NAD distributor (Innovation Electronics) as my NAD T753 has a humming noise at low volume. Looking at their speakers I asked what was the best speaker they had that competes with the LSi9. I heard the Vienna Haydn Grand and was blow away. (They also demo the Sonus and the Paradigms, but the Viennas sounded the best)
Does anybody know how the Viennas compare with the LSi9s?

I think you answered your own question.Political Correctness'.........defined
"A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a t-u-r-d by the clean end."

I am a big fan of Vienna Acoustics. That said...I've heard both (a lot) and IMO the LSi9 is the better of the two speakers. The Haydn is an excellent speaker but the bass can sound boomy with average gear. The LSi9 wins hands down for bass extension. The Vienna is smoother in the midrange and the upper octaves are equal. I could live with either one."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

One look at my speakers will give you a clue to my bias, but I happen to agree that the Haydns are excellent little speakers. It's true, they don't have the bass extesion of a large monitor like the Lsi 9 or last year's Sonus Faber Concerto Home, but they are far more elegant and smooth than the Polks.
Personally, I like all of Vienna Acoustics offerings, but if I were looking at getting a smaller speaker for a two-channel setup, I would suggest the Bach Grands, as they have a slightly larger mid/bass driver and are floor standers, but are still relatively small. They also have a fair amount of bass for the size, but only the Beethoven Concert Grands are really big enough to use sans subwoofer for music.
The Bach Grands with a nice Primare integrated and a small REL sub would be a tremendous little music system, though. It would probably set you back a good $5-6K with CD player and cables all told, though.
Fine speakers, beautiful finishes, with a real special warmth for acoustic instruments.Current System:

Last time I heard the Viennas.. I swear the sound was coming from the electrostats that stood next to them.... those electrostats were Martin Logans. That shows you just how good Viennas are.Magico M2, JL113v2x2, EMM, ARC Ref 10 Line, ARC Ref 10 Phono, VPIx2, Lyra Etna, Airtight Opus1, Boulder, AQ Wel&Wild, SRA Scuttle Rack, BlueSound+LPS, Thorens 124DD+124SPU, Sennheiser, Metaxas R2R

Try Audio Concepts in Dallas."The legitimate powers of government extend to such acts only as are injurious to others. But it does me no injury for my neighbour to say there are twenty gods, or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." --Thomas Jefferson -
