Pro Amp for Home Audio(?)

A good friend of mine is third in line receiving a pile of Pro-Audio gear, passed along from people who didn't know what it was, but didn't throw it away. He has approached me about going halfsies for whatever I can get via ebay/craigslist. Most notable to me among the equipment is a Crown MacroTech 1200 amp. Would anyone suggest using this for home stereo or home theater applications? Its apparently VERY powerful. I was thinking it might be great for biamping lows or running subs. Whatchoo think?

Specs:
Macro-Tech 1200
Stereo mode (both channels driven):
675 watts into 2 ohms.
480 watts into 4 ohms.
310 watts into 8 ohms.
Bridge-Mono mode:
1300 watts into 4 ohms.
970 watts into 8 ohms.
620 watts into 16 ohms.

Frequency Response: ±0.1 dB from 20 Hz to 20 kHz at 1
watt (see Figure 6.7).
Phase Response: ±10 degrees from 10 Hz to 20 kHz at 1
watt (see Figure 6.10).
Signal-to-Noise Ratio: 20 Hz to 20 kHz: Better than
100 dB below full bandwidth power. A-weighted: Better
than 105 dB below full bandwidth power.
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD): Less than 0.05% at
full bandwidth power from 20 Hz to 1 kHz increasing linearly
to 0.1% at 20 kHz.
Intermodulation Distortion (IMD): (60 Hz, 7 kHz) Less
than 0.05% from 163 milliwatts to full bandwidth power.
Damping Factor: Greater than 1,000 from 10 Hz to 400
Hz (see Figure 6.8).
Crosstalk: See Figures 6.11,

It would be great for running a passive subwoofer.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

+1 on mark's comment. Not sure when that model was built, but most of the vintage Crown gear is bullet proof

I'm reading the manual now. http://www.crownaudio.com/pdf/legacy/130252.pdf

Seems it is THX certified. I'm beginning to think this thing may really be a keeper for my ultimate home theater (you know, the one that consists only of AutoCad pixels). I am running a pair of PSW1200's now, and I have separated the stock amp from one of these for structural reasons. I have the stock amp mounted in a Polk S4 speaker cabinet (fits quite nicely), so I have made that sub "passive" now with an external amp.

I am sure that the two db12's in the PSW1200's could use a LOT more power than the stock amps provide, and it looks like this amp could provide it. I never have bothered figuring out if the 12's were wired in series or parallel. My guess is that they are two 4 ohm models wired in series, which I think would mean that I could re-wire them in parallel and use the available 675 watts at 2 ohms available from the Crown for both subs.

That, and this whole balanced/unbalanced input thing. Gotta figure that out.

Balanced is beneficial for long IC runs, mainly.
