Does anyone know anything about this unit (Cambridge Audio DVD79), i am getting a good deal on it( $70 brand new) and was wondering if it was worth effort. i am lookinng for something that is good in stereo more than any of the other sound option DTS, DoLby surround blah blah. i am not that keen on movies, i l love my music and wanted something that breaks even, okay movie performance excelence stereo performance (Imaging, soundstage "the whole 9yards" maybe not eveything but 90% considering the price). I dont own a Plasma or LCD or HDTV screen so i cant use the DVi or RGB connections at the back the highest i can go is Component so for now that will do.

any input will be appreciated.

For $70, I don't see how you can go wrong. The audio section of CA's DVD players isn't quite as good as their stand alone CD players, but it isn't a slouch in that area either.

Besides, at that price, you can turn around and resell it for what you have in it if you don't want it.

Does it have any advantage over any mass produced entry level sony dvd or pioneer in the audio section??

I have never used that model before but have had trouble with CA units in the past. I like the company and wanted to like their products but went thru 3 cd players in a 3 week time 2 years ago. They all had some type of mechanical problems and I had to return them all. When they work, they sound great. For $70 it sounds like a great deal. I just hope it lasts a while. I know a lot of people who have been trouble free with CA. I gues it is a crap shoot.
