need a cool amp

Hey guys...my financial situation is allowing me around $500 - $700 CDN to spend on an external amp. I would like to find a decent 3 channel or 2 channel amp in that price range. Now....problem is i only have about 8 inches of clearance where it will be sitting. My reciever is on the same shelf beside it and i manage to keep that cool by running a small fan behind it blowing over the top. Anyone know which amps i should be looking for that are generally a cooler running amp and that would fit in this space. At the moment i do not have the option on rearanging everything and buying an equipment rack(limited space in my livingroom). Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

    I had a Rotel RB-1080 that ran cool. Good basic 2CH amp and you should be able to find one close to $700.

    Look for a PSE Studio IV. Great sounding amp only available used now but usually in the $500 range +-. The size is right too.

    thanx for the feedback fellas...I am looking at a Rotel 1070 on audiogon. Anyone know how hot the NAD amplifiers get. I Sure like the looks of some of them for sale and the price is decent too.

    too bad i wouldn't have seen this sooner...i pulled the trigger on a Rotel 1072....just waiting for it to show up...the waiting is the worst part. Hope it sounds good.

    I hope you mean the RB1070.:) I've had mine for awhile. It is a very cool running amp. Barely gets warm, even at high volumes. Enjoy your new gear.:D BTW, what color?

    No biggie. If you bought the Rotel used you'll probably be able to get your $$$ back if you don't like it. At the rate I'm going the Carver will still be available.
