Hi guys, i have an not too big room (20ft x 13ft), i have an old b&W 602 S2 speakers and some small monitors in my HT, and an receiver Yamaha RX-V595A, i want to purchase an Receiver Onkyo TX-SR803B, that is rated 7x105 Watts of power, i was thinking abt purchase this set of speakers
RTI12 Tower as Front Channels
CSi5 as Center Channel
2 pairs of FXi5 as Surround

but i noticed that RTI12 needs like 50-500watts of power!!!!

what can i do? can someone help me with my system? i want a little more power that i need for my room, because maybe i will build an bigger room in a few time, (but not too much, like 22x20).


Hope someone can help me, at least telling me another set of speakers or another receiver (if its not enough)

At my retail store we're running nearly that exact same setup you mentioned in your first post and it sounds pretty damn good. We're running FXi3's instead of 5's. So you wouldn't hurt yourself by going ahead and getting your setup and adding some seperates later on.

you dont think that the 2nd setup will sound better with this amp?

i think that 105w is not enough for these big speakers

Oh don't get me wrong, amplification will make a bit of difference for the first setup. However the speakers won't exactly send your receiver into protection mode.

The question is, would you rather have a system that sounds a little better now, or one that will sound better once you get some amplification?

Have you considered the 10's? Those would be a good middle ground.

well really dont have too much diference in price and have better Overall Frequency Response, but a little lower Efficiency, i think that will be an nice choice!

will have an whole range speakers for just a few more bucks, i think that its the best choice to listen music!!

someone think that is possible to get another receiver to match perfectly with this speakers? i really want an High End receiver, i read that onkyo are really good.

Well resuming.... I will go for the RTi10 as Front Speakers, i think that if go for an CSi3 as center will be too small for the rti10´s so i think that the CSi5 are the best choice, abt surround (i will build an 7.1 channels setup) what do you think?

Sounds like a good setup. If your looking for a decent receiver I would stick with Denon or Onkyo. The Problem is that Onkyos line goes from $1000 ro $5000 with no in between. You should be able to get away with this Denon with awesome sound:

In my opinion, Denon has a better Auto Calibration than Onkyo.

Again both are going to run em just fine. If it were me I'd get the Denon 3806 and a 3 channel amp for the fronts and center.

ok. looks like the denon are damn expensive and dont have THX2 cert, maybe i will go with the Onkyo and Will try to purchase some powerful 2 or 3 channels amp to drive the fronts, but im scared abt affect the sound quality, i really dont have too much money to purchase 1 High End Receiver and 1 High End Amp

If your on a budget try picking up a used amp to save some cash. I would try Ebay or Audiogon.

You should give Polk a call or email em and see what Kind of Amp they recommend for you.

I have an Onkyo and I can say from personal experience I wont have another one. Go with the 3806 and get ya a nice amp. Look at NAD or Rotel. They're a little expensive but really well made.

Can I ask why?

I own a 703 and I'm strongly considering a Denon for my next receiver. It performed good for awhile, but I really am not a fan of the calibration options.

I might consider selling my Rotel RC-1070 pre and RB-1070 amp (130w/ch). Less than 1 yr old - paid $1200 new.
