Need Help! Monitor 7C and 4.5 Specs....

I've been looking everywhere, only to find conflicting information. I'm addicted to my classic 7Cs... and even took the step of finding some matching 4.5s to serve as rears in my new A/V setup. But now I'm looking at the Cambridge Audio 540R (6.1 Surround Receiver) and I've received some warning that this amp may not be able to handle a 4 ohm speaker loads.

My suspicion is that both the 7C's (late 80's vintage) and the 4.5 (early 90's vintage) are 4 ohm. But I've also heard 6 ohm and 8 ohm (doubtful). I'm not pushing a sub or a center channel.. this is a no-frills 4.0 setup.

Can anyone help? I'm also curious on the rated sensitivity of these speakers.

I ran the 7C's for years with a 40 watt NAD, so I can't imagine why a modern A/V receiver rated at 100watts into 8ohms couldn't cut it... but I'm not replacing the Polks!

They're listed at 8 ohms nominal, but run closer to 6 ohms.

The Cambridge is quality unit and older Polks are very efficient and the Cambridge should have no trouble running your set-up. As F1 stated the are 6-8 ohm speakers. Get the Cambridge and enjoy with confidence.
