I saw yesterday one lower portion (sub) from RT3000 system on clearance. It's a display unit that has been kicked (I suppose) but the price is very reasonable. I is possible to use it as subwoofer in my budget HT setup? Rest of the system will be based on polk R series. I have feeling that it won't stay for long so I need answers or advices asap. Thanks. :)

Well before you buy it have them hook it up and test it for you. Sometimes ignorant sales people can damage speakers/subwoofers when they demo them. Floor models have generally been rung out a little more but if it's a quick fix, a good price, and it works then why not?

It should carry full warrantee if you're buying it from a dealer, so broken or not they'll have to repair it.

Those subs are punchy, so i think you'll like it IMO.

Yep they are from retailer. Signs of abuse (scratches and scuffs) are all over but the price is $129 + tax. And item should still carry original warranty. Is it worth it?

As long as they're saying it carries the warranty then you should be good. Just ask them if they're being sold with or without. Some retailers try to say that on discounter merchandise, they don't offer anything, but argue against the fact that any of the damage that "might" have happened is likely to have come from their use, not yours.

    At that price it's a no-brainer.

Ok, I got it. What is the best way to test it?

It seems to be that a little bit of rattling happening at the back of the speaker box under some circumstances. It is possible that some screws got loose inside?

None of us are going to be able to tell you what the sound is on the speaker that you're sitting in front of. Are the sales people totally useless where you're trying to buy that thing?

Ok. I have it for some time now. It still giving some kind of high frequency sound that is coming if I push it harder. It looks like something from resonating of speaker itself. First it started with lower and then goes to the upper speaker if I push harder. I have a polk psw10 next to it and it's not doing it. However except this I like RT3000 sound much better. Is this high frequency sound from speaker movements ok or not? Is it enough to bring it back to the Polk service for check up? I'm not sure - may be I'm just havn't setup it right and messing with crossover frequency or bass volume. I need any help or advice if possible.
