Nice, vintage amplifier....usually found pretty cheap.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Thanks for the info. But what is "invert polarity"?

Check out www.AudioKarma.org There are some hard-core Nikko fans over there who sware that Nikko had it's heydey for a short period of time. If it's a good price it might be worth it just to see how it sounds, but I don't think it's anything extraordinary. My impression is it's smiliar to the Kenwoods and Yamahas of the time. Neither of which have ever impressed me.

Again, if the price is right some experimenting might be in order.

    Good luck

It's the same as reversing the + and - terminals on your speakers or amplifier. Some recordings, believe it or not, when transfered to the media were transfered out of phase. This is a way to compensate for it. Adcom pre's and Adcom Dac's all have a "phase invert" switch. On my Dac I've never been able to tell a difference, but then I've never listened very closely while comparing the 2 positions.

Go for it! If it's anything like my Nikko Alpha VI amp, you'll be as pleased as a pig in a poke. My Alpha VI (300w dual mono, 1980) was manuf. by Luxman for Nikko (oodles of power & very musical, nothing harsh or SS about it). I don't have any info on the Alpha 800 but for the price it's worth a shot. Whether Luxman also manuf. that model for Nikko I really don't know.
