My buddy had the RAZR. Piece of junk. After less than a year, it was totally broken and fritzed out. Trade it out for a more reliable phone such as Nokia or Motorola.

Why would you just arbitrarily just accept that your phone freezes and shuts down. If you haven't done anything to damage it, get your tail back in there and get a replacement........period.

I know people with Razrs and they always have problems. I've seen a lot of complaints about the phone snapping in half.

I've worked in wireless telecom for 10+ years and the best phone I've owned so far is the Nokia 2190, that was 8 years ago and MANY phones ago. It's a shame they don't make them like that anymore.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Hmmm. Got me there. I didn't know that. Try a Motorola that actually works then. ;) I'm a big NOKIA fan myself. Sturdy, rugged, drop proof :D

I was a huge Panasonic fan with their older phones. I had a black and white screen one that worked perfectly after being submerged under 6 feet of water during a floor for about an hour. It was on the whole time and when I realized I had it in my pocket, I pulled it out and it was fine. I think I even received a message while it was under water.

Unfortunately, after that the screen randomly displayed upside down but only when you turned it on (and if it did, it corrected itself after being hit once or twice).

Best phone I've ever had. Still works, actually.

Unfortunately they make almost no phones anymore and from the reviews I've read, they've gone down hill.

A few people at school own razr's and have mentioned it freezes occasionally. I think when I decide to upgrade my phone the samsung e900 is on my list to check out.

The freezing is a firmware issue. There are explainations on the net about how to update firmware... takes a bit of googling though.

Had my RAZR for several months and have had no issues. I'm just not a fan of the user interface... my Nokia was much better in that department. But the RAZR has better reception.

i loved my old moto startac but in my opinion their phones have been pretty much junk since then.

i don't know about other carriers, but with verizon, LG has been awesomefor me. very sturdy phones with no problems whatsoever. i tried a samsung once and it sucked. so i went back to LG.

I bought a verizon razr v3c...verizon **** up that phone royally, they messed with the programming and such and i hated it! what a POS. I returned it within my 14 day grace period because i hated it so much. I bought a razr v3i instead. it is excellent! I have tmobile as a service and it's the best and most fun phone i've ever had. i have a silicone case on it, and i've only dropped it once. no scratches or anything, but it hit the concrete pretty hard, no damage to it at all. then again the case on mine is aluminum, i think the v3c is plastic. i'm not a big fan of verizon. tmobile will always be my favorite.

about it freezing, mine froze once, windows xp style, but corrected itself within a few seconds and all the commands it had stored from me mashing buttons were carried out at once, other then that, absolutely no problems at all. if you can, i'd ditch the stupid verizon razr. grab a v3i or v3x maybe even a slvr l6 and pick whatever service provider you want (the benefit of unlocked gsm phones :) .

I put my girlfriends nextel sim in my razr when her battery died and it worked fine, the only thing she couldn't do was use the useless bleep feature because my razr doesn't have that. whatever...i love my razr

I've had my razr for about 6-7 months now and it has randomly shut itself off once. That is it. The girlfried who got hers the same day hasn't had a single problem yet. I love motorola phones. Great durability. I sold Nokia phones about 5-6 years ago and HATED THEM! Look like crap, built like ****, lasted 36 hours. No thanks. I'm sure they've changed by now but they still look like butt. Samsung and Sanyo also make great phones IMO.

I have never owned a RAZR but when I had the Motorola V710 and I had a very similar issue. It usually happened when I was scrolling through my phonebook the screen would get real bright, lock up, then restart itself. I have had a bad track record with Motorola phones. My carrier is VZW as well and the phone I have right now (one of the PDA phones) I absolutely love. The only problem I have had with it was I completely destroyed the screen which was totally my fault. Luckily I went for the replacement plan and within 1 business day I had a brand new unit in the retail box and everything.

The v3m is POINTLESS. Vezizon took out the obex code in the phones OS so the only way to transfer things like music and pictures to and from your computer is to pay for it by using their stupid Vcast ****. That's why I got tmobile. I can hook up my phone to the comp with a regular mini usb cable and download things back and forth. It even has a mini sd slot for adding extra memory. the m in the v3m is supposed to be Multimedia, however it's multimedia you have to pay for. Vcast is a subscription service and you need to have access to it (you need to be in the vcast range or whatever) to download things like that. I think it's dumb, but I guess there's a market for it. I like to be able to transfer rintones I;ve made and background images to my phone and i like to be able to transfer pictures from my phone to my computer. I don't want to pay for that. I got my phone unlocked with a tmobile 2 year contract at www.mobilebee.com. The only thing I can't use is the internet (downloading ringtones and surfing the web). That's because the tmobile software is not on the phone. You can take them to your service provider and have the OS or whatever changed so you can do things like that but then if you switch sim cards it's a PITA. I'd rather just keep it unlocked and untainted so i can switch from provider to provider. Plus, if i need ringtones I can transfer them to my phone with a USB cable and moto phone tools.

I like moto phones the best. Maybe give this one a try Motorola E815. If not I'd go to Samsung. I hate LG's. They don't handle drops very well.

    That point was covered already.

While there are cheap phones out there, most of it comes down to how you take care of them. I've heard of issues with the RAZRs, and BKnauss has stated. Take it back.

Hopefully you can take it back. Go to a Verizon store and get some technical support. Provided it's under warranty and there aren't signs of abuse, they should fix it/replace it if they can't fix it. I still don't like verizon though, bad experiences. Sorry you are stuck with them!

Edit: here's the razr i got BTW.

Adding to some derail action here ~~ I've already looked into the LG KG800 (chocolate) and have read that the samsung is a much better phone. Not sure about that version of the chocolate (maybe a north american version?). I especially like the better camera in the samsung. I like the looks of the lg better, but I'd much rather go for quality with looks than just looks alone ;)

well guys i went to the verizon store today and guess what...they upgraded my software for free, it took about a half hour and i was late to work but oh well, now i just have to re-download my games for free but other than that it seems to be fine right now...

and it just amazes me to hear how many of you who are out there that havent had a single problem with their RAZR...2 of my friends have the same problem, i see alt of random people at stores and what not who are taking their RAZR apart and taking the battery out and putting it back in, and a bunch of people i know have had major problems with getting dust underneath their screen but i havent had a problem with that...

oh and for all of you who like free music and photos and file transfers to their phones...i know the perfect web site and it is free...even to verizon phones..

You upgraded the firmware? So now you have the ugly orange background on the outside screen right? When you used to have a background picture there? Yea I upgraded my firmware too, for free, and it was still a POS.

I wanted to be able to edit and create my own ringtones and transfer them to my phone and transfer the pics from my phone to my comp. You can't do that with verizon phones without hacking the OS. Moto phone tools only lets your phone sync with the comp and share contacts.

Do you have a case for ur razr? If you drop it alot, or if it gets dusty from being in ur pocket you might want to look into a cheap case for i. They seem to help alot with prolonging the life of your phone.

I've never had dust under the screen BTW. Taking the battery out? I dunno mine's very well behaved. Maybe I got a good one from the batch. It's from Thailand lol :D
