WOW. What a day for a great event. That brought a tear to my eye and a sent a chill down my back. HDnet did a great job on the coverage.

How did this shuttle launch?? I had heard that the rocket type of launch was no longer being used... I don't subscribe to HDnet, therefore I can't find the picture or coverage of the launch.
The current (If they still do launch them up into the air via the rocket boosters) is so primititve. They really need to find a better method for entry into space.Honoured to be, an original SOPA founding member

Well it looked the same to me? I watch it live 95% of the time since I can see it with my naked eyes. I can even see the solid boosters being blasted off, then it goes clear flames just Hydrogen / Oxygen at this point? I'm not sure.

OK Mr. Smarty.
I believe it was on here, or maybe it was my dad, who told me that NASA was not going to be sending shuttles into space the way they have for the past 40 years. I might have been confused when they were implementing this new shuttle launch, and below are a few articles that are along the same lines.
So, despite your condescending attitude, I will forgive you.

I always have to help you guys out but since I'm in a good mood, it's not about the rubber bands but the shuttle would not fly without Mentos and a Coke:o

I thought this was one of the last missions before they start changing the shuttles? I also thought this wasn't launching until July 10th. Bah!

Ya, I figured as I was typing that without doing the research, that'd I'd be way off. Just like to open myself up for shots ya know?
But.... 05.05.61 America's Shepard becomes first US astronaut, so in reality, I wasn't that far off with my 40 years. 45 years to be exactHonoured to be, an original SOPA founding member

On May 5, 1961, Alan Shepard went up in the Freedom 7, which was a project Mercury capsule, not a shuttle.

remember what went wrong with Columbia?
The same thing happened with the discovery launch on Tuesday, albeit not as serious.

Oh sure, now you try to be nice I see how it is. Watch out for this Kevin guy.. he's trouble. And since I don't know much about shuttles and their launches, next time I have questions, I'll consult the mighty opus before posting. That way, I won't be give anyone a reason to reply with correct information.
ps. I just got it today! I don't know what I should do with it, but it sure feels good in the hands... (Get your minds outta the gutters you perverts.. hehehehe)Honoured to be, an original SOPA founding member
