What a disaster; setting up a Harmony remote

Hi! I bought a Harmony 520 remote today from Wally World which has not turned out like I hoped. Anyway... since I could not get it to set up, I disconnected the USB cord and both the screen & activities button keep going off and on. Has anyone else had this problem? I removed the batteries and put them back in so it has stopped; I'm just wondering if that was normal.
Thanks for your help, again,
Cindy

Not sure if this will help, but my remote for my sony tv does the same thing (minus the screen). When they're flashing, I just have to hit one of the "source" buttons and it would stop.
If you still can't get it to set up, call customer service and have an operator guide you step by step. Remotes can get damn confusing sometimes.
Good luck -
take it back and get nothing less than the 659 model.

BIZILL,
I got the 520 becasue it was the only store opened this evening (I know, probably a dumb move) and like a fool, I thought it was going to be easy to set up. I have looked on eBay and have lots to choose from but since Logitech CS was already closed, I didn't have a chance to call and ask if the warranty would still be good if I bought off eBay. Not sure if that really matters.
Any particular reason you prefer the 659? As I said in my other post, I don't need anything fancy and most of all , complicated. I am going to call around tomorrow and see what other stores have to offer; I've never gotten bad advice from here so thought this forum would be a good place to start. I don't want to spend a whole lot on it but also want to make sure I don't end up with a piece of junk! I firmly believe that with most things, you get what you pay for.
Thanks,

actually, i own the 659 and haven't tried the others. i've heard that the 880 kicks butt. but i'm happy with the 659. i have many components and it handles all of them very well. i can even customize further, if i were not so darn lazy.

No trouble setting my 520 up, and it has never flashed as you describe.
When you set it up, did you make sure to get the updated software from Logitech?
You could always take it back and try another, maybe you got a lemon.
