I'm helping my brother pick out a new system for his reg-cab chevy colorado (shooting for <$500). I have an idea of what would be good, just looking for a little input. Let me know what you guys think about this setup:

Polk db6500 components $200
Polk db124 subwoofer $100
Hifonics Txi6406 amplifier $200

Heres the link for the amp: www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=16336

This way the comps will get 85 watts each, and the other two channels bridged will give 340 to the sub. And arent hifonics under-rated? If so then all the speakers will be closer to thier rated rms power. Thanks for the help!

sounds like a great set up. Hifonics, especially that line arent really overrated, they put out their power, plus or minus a few watts

For about $20 bucks more than the DB's you could get some Rainbow Soundline components, the SLC265's. If you are interested I can give you the contact information of the person selling them. He had a deal going for $220 dollars shipped. Send me a PM if you are interested.

While the db components can handle the power pretty well, they don't need much more than the 85 watts you were originally talking about for tight sound and good volume.

100 watts would be a good number for those components, but if budget is a consideration they'll do fine with less.
