Goodwill Stuff...

I was just a Goodwill today, and I found two items that caught my attention. One was a NEC CDP. The model number was CD-530. The front screen was in need of cleaning, but overall it actually looked to be in good condition. They had a power strip so you could plug stuff in, and it all lit up like it was working fine. I'm thinking about grabbing it to stick in my porch system where my Yamaha is now. I don't have a CD player out there. They were asking $35.
The other was an older Kenwood integrated. The model number on that was KA-3500. It appeared to be in a little better cosmetic condition, and also worked when you plugged it in, though one knob was missing. I would contemplate using it instead of the Yamaha in the porch system. They were asking $10 for it.
Either one worth the price?
Thanks!

The Kenwood is, depending on what the size of the knob is, I may have an extra. Old grunt CDP's are worth no more than $5-$10 in my book. You can buy a new DVDp, that probably has a better D/A for $35.

Well, I went back over there and bought it. She is pretty heavy to be so small, but she's not too heavy. I'll hopefully get around to hooking her up in my 'porch' system here before too long.
Russ, what do ya need to know about the knob? I'll measure the diameter as soon as I can.George Grand wrote: »

Oh, I almost forgot the best part - I paid the full $10.70 in quarters!
And all the quarters were in the change holder in my Jeep. I think it was time to clean it out.George Grand wrote: »

Thrift stores can be the way to go if you are careful.
-
Remember to take it apart and clean it.
My Dad constantly buys old radios (he collects old panasonic radios) and other electronics from flea markets and places like goodwill and you'd be surprised what's inside. I'd say more often than not he finds roach eggs inside of electronics and if they're not cleaned out.... well your shows may mysteriously run across the floor one day.
Just fyi -
Ha, thanks. That's a good point. I didn't see anything like that inside, but I have it sitting in my closet right now, and I'd hate for anything like that to get loose in there. I think maybe I'll move it until I can clean it out.George Grand wrote: »
