It's a old model but still works (large enough for everything in the entertainment cabinet) APC 800RT. It got it off Ebay used not working needed batteries I believe it came with 6v 10amp batteries 4 total for 24v 10amp supply. I replaced those with 12v 7amps 4 total for 24v 14amp supply which I think was in a model 1000RT. Large UPS are a little hard to find, but a smaller one for TV and or DVR unit would be nice for anyone.

And yes I tested it by using a Hairdryer on high.

Sounds good. My only reservations about using a UPS with my system is that, like you said, finding a large UPS to backup the high current amps are hard to find. But additionally, constant battery replacement I am not fond of. I find that the smaller UPS's need a battery replacement every 2 years at $30 each. I do not kknow what the larger batteries would cost.

The new Belkin flagship conditioner has the UPS in it. It is under warrenty for 3 years, while all the lower Belkin models are for life. This is due to the UPS feature. And it is $1500. Every "higher end" UPS/power conditioner I find has a 3 year warranty. I am not sure if these units allow battery replacement or if it is easy to do.

Most UPS I ever worked on have what a smaller UPS battery is 12v 7ah. So mine has 4 of these so $30 x 4 =$120...

BTW at work is even a larger one but it needs (8) 12v 7ah batteries so $240 in batteries and very large it would be difficult to hide. So it still sits at work.

I think this due to the battery life thing. I would give them a call about batteries in the unit. But no battery a manufacture placed in an unit can't be found else where. IMHO

That is why I stick with the non-UPS models. Too much hassle for me.

    Hi Crazy,
If you budget is up to $200, than why not just get the PF60? It can be had now for around $175 and has overvoltage. I have one and I like it a lot.

That sounds like a good deal. Where can you buy one for that price?
