Surrounds for Monitor series

I'm saving up for the Monitor 70's and then gonna upgrade to the CS2 (currently have CS1) center channel. My question is then for surrounds should I go with 4 Monitor 40's? Or would it be a dramatic timbre MISmatch if I would go with 4 FXi3 or 4 FXi5? What should I do about that?

I would highly recomend going with the rti8 for the mains, they are cheaper then the monitor 70 and will have a much better sound. They will also match the fxi3s perfectly. I would then use the money saved on getting the rti8's to get a csi3 or csi5.dvd player: samsung DVD-HD850
receiver: Denon avr5700
center: polk cs400
fronts: polk rt800i
surrounds: Unknown Polk monitor? series.
sub: svs pb12 isd/v
tv: 46 inch samsung -
LOL! You are putting me in a perdicament! I'm not judging your answer because, you are right. It's just I already have a CS1 center and Monitor 40 bookshelves. If I go with RTi series I'll have to start all over. I agree from what people have said the RTi is really good for movies and exceptional for music. I just dont know how I feel about starting my HT all over, cause it's taken me so long to get here LOL What do you think I should do?Don't forget to look at My Home Theater

I have heard the same things about the RTis but as you can see from my system I have exactly what you are thinking of building. To be honest with you I am still extremely happy with its performance especially compared to my previous systems. As far as accuracy and SPLs it is a safe bet to go through with your planned upgrade as I am highly satisfied with mine.// Panasonic AE8000 // Pioneer SC-57 // Polk Audio RTi A9 // Polk Audio CSiA6 //

Well ya see, mutelight, I'm thinking about going with the RTi series because for surrounds I like dipole's and the Monitor series doesn't have dipole surrounds. I see you have a SVS PB12-NSD for your sub, after I get my speakers settled and everything I'm gonna upgrade my sub from a Velodyne VRP-1200 which dont too bad but just not punchy enough in the long run for me. I'm gonna try out SVS and see what all the hype is about and go with a PB10-NSD, which is one step down from you. How you like yours? And how you think the 10 will be different?Don't forget to look at My Home Theater

I really couldn't be happier with the perfomance from my SVS. More than enough bass when called upon extremely long bass extension, simple extremely solid design, and the prices are great since they are factory direct. People always comment on how low it hits and how its so much better than so many other subs out there because of it. Not only that they are blown away during action scenes with a lot of LFE because it is low and rich bass that pressurizes the room and they can really feel it, not boomy higher ranged bass. As far as the PB10-NSD I haven't heard it in person but everyone I hear from that has them absolutely loves them. Between HSU and SVS those two companies are hard to beat especially in the price range. Now I have heard the higher you go on the line as far as price the less difference can be noticed between makes.// Panasonic AE8000 // Pioneer SC-57 // Polk Audio RTi A9 // Polk Audio CSiA6 //
