I just replaced my alpine 9833 with this new alpine 9856. I really like this deck the full speed ipod connection is awesome super fast. The sound quality is great also just not alot of tuning features.

I also like the black on white display it is plain. I get tired of all the colors and animations on the displays nice to have something plain for a change.

The BBE processing sounds awesome way better than the media expander. It makes the bass tight and in control and the highs are much clearer.

Really I cannot tell much difference in the 4 volt preouts on my last deck to this 2 volt deck signal is clean no noise.

For the price of this deck 199.00 it's worth the money. Alpine dropped alot of the tuning features. But in opinion they sound better and better every year. Sound quality is much better than my last deck.

Looks good! Now if you could just get that awful Nelly Furtado crap off the screen it would look even better! ;)

You mean white on black. ;) I like it, too.

Hey, now! I like Nelly Furtado. Actually, I don't really know. The only time I've ever heard her is on one track on my Michael Buble CD, they sing a duet together. Her voice is absolutely amazing on that song. So much so that I would love to get one of her CD's so I could hear her by herself.

Tuning features have alot to do with SQ...

While my Eclipse HU's sounded a little better than my Alpine, having tuned my Alpine HU has made it sound really nice. I do not think that you had the CDA-9833 setup correctly. Specially if you were using the Media Xpander function. That thing is a wasted function. I was dissapointed when Alpine dropped BBE from their upper end stuff. I always have liked what BBE does to music. Whenever I used it, I had it on the lowest settings.
