The man's name is Jake Shimabukuro and he's signed to Sony in Japan. I think George will be smiling after hearing this.....

    *picks jaw up off floor*

He can get that right hand to moving! And that left hand is no slouch for finding those chords, either. Two big thumbs up for me!

I especially like playing the last few lines of that song on the piano. Whereas I'm sure it doesn't sound that great when I'm really beating it out, it just feels great to pound out that last sequence, pouring your whole being into it, over and over again until your arm just won't do it anymore. I also like his dynamic contrasts. I like pounding out that last bit, then playing it real softly, then pounding it out again one last time.

Oh, and who is this George Harrison character? The only person I've ever heard perform that song is Eric Clapton.

George Harrison was a Beatle. Check out Jeff Healy's version of this song too. He's a blind blues guitarist who plays with his guitar on his lap

I thought I had heard the name before, but I never would have guessed he was a Beatle.

I figured I'd get a lot of love for that. But hey, if I hadn't asked, I still wouldn't know.

The following was in the liner notes of Jake's 2004 release....
The ukelele is suprisingly popular in England. George felt liberated
playing the uke and loved it because it made everyone smile. We
should all be grateful that a new generation of players, such as Jake
Shimabukuro, have emerged with renewed enthusiasm and virtuosity.
He has a keen ear for a good song and his repertoire will carry many
great songs into the future. Of course, I especially love Jake's
versions of George's songs and he will always have a fan in England.
