My current setup is in my sig and I have been thinking of upgrading my system to 7.1. Do you feel it is worth it at this point? Would Bi-Pole/Di-Pole speakers be worth it or should I get another pair of monitor 40s? Right now I have my mains bi-wired using the two extra surround back channels.

if your seating position is closer than 3-5 feet from the back wall, then 7.1 will only make it worse.

Fx's won't match the monitors. If I were you, I'd just get a pair of monitor 30's if 7.1 is the route you want to take.

7.1 is only for big rooms.
Small rooms will sound cluttered with too many speakers.

Good point. My seating is about that distance from the rear wall. Also a majority of the movies would all be upmixed to 7.1 anyway. Guess I'll wait until I move to a bigger place. haha. Thanks for the recommendation though, I appreciate it.
