I have been searching all over the net to decide on which way to go on an amp. Somewhere in the 1k range. I guess if need be I can go higher but we shall see. I have in front a pair of Polk RTi 10's. Polk Csi3 center, Polk Fxi rears, Martin&Logan Dynamo Sub. Powered now by a HK 630 which is plugged into a Monster Power 3600 reference power supply. I only mention the Monster Power because it made a noticable differnce in the HK performance and DirecTV picture quality. Anyways I am looking to power all five channels what do you all recommend. I am not at afraid of going used so if thats a good way to go please don't hesitate to say so. Thanks agian

    Welcome to the club.

You have asked an open ended question with hundreds of opnions available.
Check out our flea market or Audiogon.com for a good selection of used gear.

Personal preference is needed to make you choice so the best thing is to go out and listen for yourself to see what you like.

I like my Sherbourn 7/2100 but I want to change it out as soon as I can justify spending the money.
    Sherbourn also makes a 5/5210

I'm no expert, but I've been shopping a bit myself lately. You can grab a Rotel 1095- 5x200W for $1250-1300 used, or its little brother, the 1075- 5x120W for $700-800. Cruising the CP forum, I've read a lot of positive reports on the Outlaw multichannel amps, which I believe can be had for $1000 used.

    Good luck.

I have the Rotel 1075 and it is a nice amp for around 1k new. If you want some more power for your Rti10's (which I do recommend), then I would look into a used 1095. You can usually find them around the $1200 range.

    Thanks for the input.

I like the Rotel gear and I know there are more expensive ways to go but I feel for the money it's just a solid choice. I will search for the 1095. I found a 1075 used on fleabay for 1k but will hold out for the 1095. I guess I will go hear the Outlaw too, as I have been reading alot of positive things about them as well.

    Hi Matt, welcome!

You can't go to a store to hear an Outlaw product as they are strictly an internet company!

However, I do have one of their monoblocks & it is great. Small, relatively lightweight & runs cool even though it's giving me 200 wpc! Outlaw is a good bang for the buck choice in amplification!

You can't go wrong with 200 wpc of either Rotel or Outlaw!

Pretty much finding this out. I know The Home Theater Store carries Rotel and can hear it there. As for the Monoblock I would have to get one per channel? or is that one monoblock per front and one per back? Sorry for the confusion I am still learning.

mono=1. One channel only so for a typical 5.1 setup, you will need 5 of them. Outlaw also sells 5 and 7 channel amps as well.

Since you are looking to go used, I would check out audiogon and Sleezbay for B&K multichannel amps as well. I have one of their older amps, and it runs great! If you are patient, you can find some great deals out there on B&K gear.

    cfrizz,
Thanks for the heads up. Man that was fast. I think I am still going to research it a bit. I hate to say it but I like the look of the rotel a touch better. Not that looks have anything to do with perfomance as I am sure the outlaw is good. How hot does the outlaw run?

LOL! Yeah the Outlaw isn't much to look at. I can't tell you how hot the 5-7 channels run. I can only tell you that the monoblock stays cool.
