Vizio?

I've got my eye on this 50" Plasma that I seen at Sams Club. Now I dont really know that much about HDTV and all that but I figured coming here would probably be the best place to ask. Now when it comes to audio I know a little bit about a little bit but not when it comes to the video department. Right now all I have is a 24" Sylvania regular-old TV and have a pretty good HT and was thinking about upgrading the TV. It's a 50" Vizio Plasma HD Monitor with a 1366x768 resolution and 10000:1 contrast ratio for $1,964.76. What do you guys think? This TV will eventually be in mine and my fiance's bedroom too. Is it worth it or not? Also there's a 32" widescreen LCD $886 and both support up to 1080i. Which one is the better choice?
Also there's a Sanyo 42" Widescreen Plasma HDTV w/Built-in ATSC tuner at Walmart. 1024 x 768 resolution, 10000:1 contrast, HDMI, 2 components, s-Video, composite, optical, analog, ATSC, NTSC.
Now I know probably to y'all that this is not looking very good as far as TV wise, but that's all my fiance's letting me pick from (for now LOL). But she's got her eye on the Sanyo. But listen to this she wants it because the TV speakers are on the sides and not the bottom! I told her I says look at this Polk Audio home theater I got. The TV speakers wont get used!
So what should I do?

They've got it in my local Costco also. The picture is OK, and would probably work for a bedroom or gameroom. After seeing it next to the other sets though, I wouldn't reccommend it for HT use.
They had it at the front of the store by itself at first, and it looked tempting, but I decided to wait until I could see it displayed next to other sets. I'm glad I did, because it's weaknesses are apparent when comparing directly to other sets. -
Really? Huh, I actually thought I was making a good decision. I'm glad I asked about it first, before I went out and forked out the cash for it. Ya see I'm putting together an awesome Polk HT but I know nothing and I'm not gonna pretend to know anything about video at all. If not the Vizio then what about the Sanyo my fiance likes then? I've actually thought about going over to Circuit City cause they've got the largest selection around my area. But the thing about the Sanyo is I work at Walmart and can get 10% off it, which would be close to like 150 bucks off.Don't forget to look at My Home Theater

I didn't like the Vizio either, besides I lean more towards LCD
I reccomend the HP Pavillion 32" lcd...I just got the 26 " for the bedroom and I like it very much, pain in the arse to set up but great hdtv with many options and great picture...check it out at J&R.com for $1299 might be too small for you though

Run, don't walk away. That's all. Run. From. Vizio.
If you require a great picture at an affordable price, check out the Panny Plasma Professional line that can be found at Pro Video stores, and online markets. 1600 shipped gets you 42" EDTV which will still look great on SDTV, and 2200 shipped gets you HDTV (both in a sexy as hell black picture frame). You would be hard pressed to tell the difference from 8 feet away using DVD, but you would see the difference immediately with the Cable box. . .the HDTV will look blocky displaying SDTV which most of us watch most.
Flip a coin, or save one. Just don't buy that piece of warranty waiting to happen or expire Sam's club special. . . or that Pavilion either. I'm typing on one of their laptops at the moment, but I would never spring for their bigscreens -they are mediocre at best.
: Outlet stores get the "out of spec" crap that should have been heaved off the assembly line, but actually makes it in to a shipping carton. Say what you will about warranty, but I'd rather not be lugging around two weeks pay in a 4 foot glass envelope . . .that may or may not make it back in one pieces. Also, if you are getting the crap of a crap line, that really must some some crappy crap.-Ignorance is strength - -
What about looking into Samsung? Are they known for making good HDTV? Cause that's what I'm going for: the clearest largest image without having to buy a projector and screen. Maybe when I move into a house that I can BUILD a dedicated home theater, I'll go that route. But for now I would like to know which way to look for the largest clearest picture possible.Don't forget to look at My Home Theater

Samsung has great PQ, IMO right there with the Sony's. I was looking at Plasma's but realized I can have a much bigger DLP for the same price. I ended up with 61" Samsung 1080p DLP in the bedroom.

Got this new Panny Pro 42'' Plasma 9 months ago for 1600 shipped to Boston from NYC. Stand cost about a hundred. It's made in Japan, not Korea or China. As good as it gets in this price range. I like the DLP's, but it's night and day when there is any light in the room. PQ is much nicer and closer to CRT. It's quite a sexy piece for my boudoir, and the LSi's look like they were made to match.
You can snag the 50" under 2800.-Ignorance is strength - -
Well ya see the thing is, I have to get something to please mommy too. And y'all know what that means. My fiance wants something that we can hang on the wall. So that means I have to find a plasma or wall-mountable LCD. But my thing is and always has been: the largest clearest screen hanging on my living room wall. Then when I've accomplished that I'll get something smaller on our bedroom wall.Don't forget to look at My Home Theater

It's mount willing, ready and able. I just have a window that it would obscure, so I popped it on a stand.-Ignorance is strength -
