My new DIY A/V rack

Due to vibration issues with my gear inside the HT I finally got it all out. Over the past week I built this on the exterior side of the HT with all materials I had at home for other projects, all the parts did come from Home Depot. Here are the pics from start to finish.
I had these racks from left over from when I first built my HT. Each shelf can support 250lbs. It's screwed into the studs of the HT with 4" deck screws. I also installed a 20amp dedicated line off the main house breaker for power.
The shelving is decoupled from the HT using a neoprene washer and a flat cut washer. This helps dramatically reduce vibrations.
I started to install the shelf brackets and shelving. I also installed 3 1" diameter holes to the inside of the HT for all the cabling and wires. I used schedule 40 PVC.
Each shelf is also decoupled from the bracket using flat cut washers.
A rough layout of the interior.
The finished product.
Everything in it's place. I am using the leapfrog RF system to control the geare from inside the HT.
An access door in the back provides all the room I need to access all the connections.

Well thought out. Nice Job.

Aside from the doors on front and back which I'd assume will be closed virtually all the time, where is the heat escaping out of? It looks like those shelves don't have any travel space up other than the little at the side where the racks are mounted to the wall, true?
If anything, maybe some external fans for the outside top to pull the air out of the enclosure. I have 4" fans that are very quiet if you'd be interested in those. I think you might have to come up with some sort of cheapo connectors from Home Depot (unless I have some) but they keep my system VERY cool and are mounted on the back of my rack.comment comment comment comment. bitchy. -
Very cool! how much was the cost on that? I bet it was fairly cheap.

When in operation I crack open the front and back doors, no fans needed everything stays nice and cool. It's locked tight with locking slide bolts when not in use.
Cost, less then $50 because I had pretty much everthing already. If I had to go out and buy everything I'd be looking around $150 or so. The metal racks and shelving are a bit on the expensive side.
Thanks for the comments guys, it's working out great. Let alone the vibration issue gone the heat from all that gear inside the theater is gone as well.If...

very clean job, Ron! two thumbs up!I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

That is nice, now the heat will not travel into the room.
What about the remote control?
Do you have to open the door and aim at it?Skynut
