Monster Cable (the other side)

I know there is a lot of bad blood regarding Monster products on this forum. I have Monster products, from their AMP, to their "conditioners" to their cables.

When I purchased my AMP (MPA-2250) from The Good Guys closing sale the power cable had mysteriously came up missing from the open box. Why, I do not know. I read recently where another member just simply called and Monster sent them out another one. Perfect.

I tried to call, but was on hold for 30 minutes, then the phone just disconnected. HMM, maybe there is something to the thrashing of Monster. Well I went ahead and used the online email system they had, and guess what?

A Rep emailed me back and said the cable is on its way. They didn't even ask to see the receipt. I am an honest guy, but damn, what if I didn't even own this amp?

This weekend, during a power outage, one of my power banks on my HTS-5100 went up in smoke. So on my reply back to thank the rep for sending me the cable I told him about my problem w/ the 5100. His reply to me:

Please send your defective HTS5100 to:

Address
RMA#

Upon receipt of the defective unit, we will process the order for a brand new HTS-5100 to be sent to you.

I just wanted to share this w/ anyone that has doubted their Customer Service. I am in no way affiliated w/ Monster at all. And this may or may not be your experience with them.

Who knows, maybe it was my "usmc.mil" email address;)

Good to see they came through in the clutch for your sake (resoundingly, at that...)
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

Ask Discovery Channel about M*'s good customer service. Did you know that M* Cable took over the name "Monster Garage"?

I don't think many people here have really said anything disparaging about their PRODUCTS, just their business practices when it comes to their trademark. They make a decent set of products (if not a little overpriced), but the way they bully small companies with NO remote connection to their market just for the use of the word "monster" is deplorable, and enough to make me look elsewhere.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

I have used some of their products and found them to serve their purpose. Like someone said they make more money and have more of the market share than most of these small cable making companies that charge you 5 times as much as Monster just to keep up. It's like Bose I have gone to their stores and the people are just buying stuff like crazy, and they laugh all the way to the bank.

    Those monster ****!!!

I know their products are completely overpriced but when I read the link bobman provided, that was the last straw. When I worked at circuit city, we were pushed soo much to sell monster(just as much as extended warranties). When we did comparisons to cheap cables (not in front of a customer of course, where it actually mattered), we could not see any difference at all. I got yelled at all the time for selling the cheaper cables and not selling enough warranties . I couldn't take anymore and quit. My problem is I couldn't lie to the customers. If I would have worked on commision, it would be a different story...:)

anyways, if it was a name like yahoo, I could completely understand why they would put out lawsuits, but monster...
So tell me this monster cable, why hasn't Best Buy sued Buy.com?

That's interesting, and good to know. I'm really considering a Monster power conditioner at the moment, and it's good to hear that they (seemingly) take care of their customers. Did you have to send in the receipt for your HTS5100, or did they just ask for the unit itself?

At any rate, sounds like they're taking good care of you. Let us know how it turns out!

I've had them replace cables that were trashed (ends ripped off), they send out new in box, no questions. They do have good CS at least.

Just wondering if they have gone after Sesame Street and the Cookie Monster. Seems like that ought to be on their list of dirty deeds somewhere.

My brother will only buy M* for the recording studio he runs, not because its the best or best for the money, but only for their CS. You would not believe the boneheadedness of musicians and how they can destroy cables. He just takes the damaged one back and they replace it, no questions asked.
There is no genuine justice in any scheme of feeding and coddling the loafer whose only ponderable energies are devoted wholly to reproduction. Nine-tenths of the rights he bellows for are really privileges and he does nothing to deserve them. We not only acquired a vast population of morons, we have inculcated all morons, old or young, with the doctrine that the decent and industrious people of the country are bound to support them for all time.-Menkin

they tried, but they took on a little more than they could chew with Disney. I believe Disney countersued, something along the lines of the Monster trademark being too general so they they just started action to get the whole trademark dissolved. Monster Cable wisely backed off.

Did they think Disney wasnt going to use its muscle? what the heck were they thinking

tons of info on the web on this, I think Monster has toned it down a knotch but who knows. I'll get there stuff used, but never buy from them new.

fyi, most of whats listed with the USPTO aren't actual lawsuits, they are "extensions for time to oppose". However, what has been made public is that sometimes during these extensions M* Cable may be making demands. When people don't cave in, the file an actual "opposition".

Yes M* tried very agressively to go after Disney for Monsters Inc. However, Disney's lawyers were a level above what M* lawyers could dish out. Disney threatened to challenge M*'s right to the word "monster" at all, and M* wisely backed off. The lawsuit and Disney's answer to the lawsuit make for very funny reading.

They DID. Check out the patent website. The Sesame Workshop was on the list for having a "Monster Clubhouse" for the Cookie Monster and others. I'm not joking.
