DVD playback problems

Okay, I just went out and got the Deadwood Season 2 collection last week. It took me several attempts to get it to playback on my portable dvd player. Now I can't get the 2nd disc to get past the menu. All my other dvds still play fine, except for my "Band Of Brothers" collection. It took several attempts, too, but all disc eventually played. Is there some new copyright protection that I don't know about? What gives?

    It's only a year old and in perfect shape. It's an Audiovox with 8" widescreen.

    Perhaps it is a defective disc and a tempermental player?

    Hey, Noel. Not sure why it won't play those dvds, but I got a Zenith that plays anything. I know it should play them being only a year old. I have had a few bad experiences with audiovox, so who knows? I know I did not help at all, but good luck. May be one of those times when you have to get an upgrade, and pass it on to the kids.

    Not all players play all disk, just the way it is.. you must have found the magic combination. or return the dvd and try another, the portables are cheaper players and must not always read all disks

    The player was manufactured April 2005. I'll just TRY and find my receipt and exchange the dvds for another set.

    Noel, have you tried playing the dvds in a standard player? If they play in that, then the problem would definately be your portable player.
